Shirogane Sabo — Restaurant in Fukuoka

An amazing place to have a sweet or savoury treat!

Ordered the "Croque Madame Pancake" a most delicious pancake dish that includes bechamel sauce, thinly sliced ham (prosciutto perhaps...?), a sprinkle of grated parmesan and a sunny side up egg served with a small pot of honey.

For drinks we enjoyed the seasonal special, "Shine Muscat Juice" and a cup of the store's signature blend "Hand Drip Coffee Medium Roast". Coming from Australia, my dining partner can be a bit picky about their coffee-- They commented that the blend here is so smooth and delicious with none of the usual bitterness of a standard black coffee so it was very very enjoyable!

The store is much larger than it appears from the outside, there are 3 floors of seating available and there was no wait to enter and be seated when we visited on a Tuesday...

A modern cafe with a library atmosphere. Seems to be known for their pancakes which looked quite good.

I got the Eggs Benedict Pancake. The egg was poached well, but the hollandaise was a bit too light and sweet. The pancake was also good, not being too sweet or heavy. The avocado wasn't ripe and a bit hard. The salad as good and fresh and the dressing was perfect.

Unfortunately the service was pretty terrible. None of my plates were cleared the entire time I was there. My drink didn't come until 10 minutes after I had finished all my food. I didn't get my receipt until I asked, though the other tables got theirs immediately after they got their order.

This could be a foreigner diff, but I spoke understandable japanese and the staff didn't switch to english.

Overall overrated unless you're looking for...

오후 2시 이전 워크인 입장했어요~ 직원분이 예약 했냐 물어봐서 안했다고 하니 3층 가장 구석지고 어두운 자리로 안내 받았어요. 2층 전부 공석이었고 3층 조명드는 자리로 옮겨도 되겠냐고 서버에게 물었더니 ‘예약이 있어 죄송하다‘고 대답하며 저희 양옆 테이블에 예약석 표시를 하더군요.

그래서 저는 온라인으로 이후 시간을 예약해서라도 밝은 창가자리에서 디저트 사진도 담고 즐겁게 시간 보내고 싶어 예약을 알아보니 당일 예약은 안되고 내일부터 가능하길래 어쩔수 없나보다 포기했습니다.

곧바로 다른 워크인 손님 오셨는데 저와 같은 한국인이었고 저희처럼 3층 가장 구석 그늘진 자리 안내 받았습니다.

이후 메뉴 나오기까지 20여분 지난 상황에도 옆자리 예약석 손님은 전혀 보이지 않더군요. 2층 뷰 좋은 자리 모두 텅텅 비어있었는데 워크인 한국인 2팀이 테이블에 빛한줄기 들지 않는 자리를 안내받은게 고의적이라 생각되었습니다.

누가봐도 거짓말로 안내 받은 상황에 매우 불쾌했습니다. 겉으로만 친절하다는 일본 문화가 바로 이런것인가 생각되며 화가 났습니다.

저희는 3층 창가로 자리를 옮겼고 안내한 서버가 음식 서빙을 하며 자리를 바꾼 저희에게 아무말도 하지 못하고 표정이 굳더군요.

어차피 추가 예약도 없는 상황에 거짓말로 구석진 자리를 안내하는 못된 마음씨에 크게 실망하였습니다.

한국분들 미리 예약하시거나 워크인으로 자리 개같은곳 배정받으시면 항의하시고 밝은 자리에서 기분 좋게 식사하시길 바랍니다.

I entered the walk-in before 2 p.m.~ The staff asked me if I made a reservation, and I said I didn't, so I was guided to the corner and darkest seat on the 3rd floor. The 2nd floor was all vacant, and when I asked the server if I could move to the lighting seat on the 3rd floor, he answered, "I'm sorry I had a reservation," and he marked the reserved seats on the tables next to us.

So I wanted to book a later time online and have a good time with dessert pictures in a bright window seat, so when I checked the reservation, I couldn't make a reservation on the same day and it was possible from tomorrow, so I gave up.

Immediately, another walk-in guest came, and he was a Korean like me and was guided to the shadowy seats in the corner of the third floor like us.

After that, about 20 minutes after the menu came out, I didn't see any customers in the reserved seats next to me. All the seats with good views on the second floor were empty, but I thought it was deliberate that the two walk-in Korean teams were guided to a seat that did not shine on the table.

I was very displeased with the situation where I was guided by a lie. I was angry to think that this is how the Japanese culture of being kind on the outside is.

We moved to the window on the third floor, and the server we guided us changed seats while serving food, so we couldn't say anything and looked solid.

I was greatly disappointed with the bad heart of guiding me to the corner by lying when I didn't have an additional reservation anyway.
