A Hidden Gem in Fukuoka – A Must-Try Omakase Experience
While I’m by no means an omakase expert or connoisseur, I know great food when I taste it—and Sushi Shinagawa absolutely delivered one of the best dining experiences we had during our time in Fukuoka.
We originally discovered this restaurant through the Japan Food Guide, which gave it high marks, and now I completely understand why. The chef and hostess (who I believe are related by marriage) are the perfect duo—he with his skill and dedication to precision, and she with her warm hospitality and thoughtful English translations for each course.
Every dish was beautifully prepared, with an evident passion for balance, texture, and flavour. From the perfectly sliced sashimi to the hand-crafted nigiri, each course was a testament to the chef’s pursuit of excellence. What truly elevated the experience was the welcoming, intimate atmosphere that made us feel like guests in their home.
