たび屋 TABIYA'S — Restaurant in Hakone

This is a great restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal we had here. It's a little hard to exactly describe it. Not exclusively a pizza place, they serve amazing steak! But no pasta on the menu. They serve Neapolitan style Japanese pizza that is a little bigger than the standard size pizza we get in Tokyo so you might want to keep that in mind when ordering. The local veggies and bacon pizza was great, the margarita was great too and had a good amount cheese! I like my tomato sauce with a little more tartness, but my wife loved it that way. Also had the Ashigara sirloin steak and it was awesome! It comes with 2 different salt mixes and, one sauce and ponzu. Personally the meat was so good all it really needed was some salt, but try it all out and see which you prefer. Most of the staff speak some English so it's very easy to order. My wife and I just had a marvelous time at Tabiya's. We decided to go there for dinner, not realizing this meant climbing down some 200 stairs from our hotel. Needless to say, we were ready for a good meal once we got to the place. Pizza with tomato sauce and sausage was great! Beer was cold and the service was very friendly and accommodating. To top it all, when we asked them to call us a cab to take us back to our hotel (we couldn't bare the thought of climibing UP those stairs), they simply arranged for the restaurant's car to take us, free of charge! Amazing Japanese hospitality left us...

So glad we chose to have dinner here for our last night in Hakone. The staff were really great and helpful, and their English was very good which made ordering easy.

For dinner we had 2 pizzas (Mt. Hakone Bacon and vegetables & Mt Hakone Margherita) and the chocolate fondant for dessert. Absolutely delicious and the restaurant has such a cool vibe, inside felt like a cosy wood cabin.

To top it off, I asked if they could call a taxi to take us back to our hotel and one of the lovely staff members offered to drive us instead. Travelling with a 1.5 year old, this was incredibly appreciated!
