After a long, hot tour of Himeji Castle, stumbling upon Kushiyaki Kobe Beef, located just across from the castle entrance, was the perfect treat. The moment I stepped up to the counter, I was greeted with warm, friendly service (excellent English) and small a cool, comfortable seating area offered the perfect break from the heat (there are only 6 seats).

What truly stole the show was the perfectly prepared selection of Wagyu and Kobe beef — every bite was tender, flavorful, and cooked to absolute perfection. The quality of the meat was outstanding, and the care that went into preparing each cut was evident. Even better, the prices were a fraction of what you’d expect to pay for this quality in the United States, making it not only a culinary treat but also a great value.

Everything was immaculately presented, and the experience felt both authentic and refined. Whether you’re a beef connoisseur or just hungry after sightseeing, Kushiyaki Kobe Beef is a must-visit in Himeji — a true hidden gem with exceptional food and heartfelt...

Hands down a 5 star restaurant. The restaurant has an English menu, so that makes it easier. The seating can be a bit tight since it's only one row with roughly 6 seats. We usually aren't very comfortable with this type of setting, but the owner was very nice and it made us feel comfortable.

Their dishes... Simple and good. If you are craving for any beef dishes, wagyu and Kobe beef, but don't want to spend $$$, come here. I got the wagyu rice bowl and the beef is tender and medium rare. It was very delicate. The Kobe beef was very marbling. So if you like a bit of fatty meat, that's your option. The rice comes with soup(maybe beef bone broth), and it was very soothing.

I definitely recommend...

It's a rather small and humble establishment with 3 staff and 5 bar seats for the entire resturant.

That said, it serves up great Kobe and Wagyu meat. The rice bowls they serve basically was beef (a seemingly generous amount) set atop some fagrant rice. It's almost cheating with the meat tasting so good. The meats melted in your mouth as you eat it and it was as simple as that. Pure joy.

If you're making your way to the Himeji castle, stop by this establishment - it's about another 50 steps to the traffic junction to the castle gates.

If there are no seats, they do take-outs too so just buy it and find some nice place overlooking the castle at the park behind to eat it -...

Dine in or takeaway if you cannot wait to dine in because the place only has 6 seats. Order and payment was placed at the front and we were given a number to wait for our seats. Location is obviously for tourists but the food did not disappoint. We decided to go for the premium priced Kobe beef instead of wagyu. Beef was cooked with care and sliced thinly. So it literally melts in your mouth. Glad that they serve some lettuce with all the meat & carbs. The only shortcoming for this place is it is a little cramped. But that’s the charm and novelty of it. They even had a toilet at the back. Amazing these holes in the wall restaurants!!
