The ambiance here is first class, warm and welcoming. I went later in the day so less options, but still found some vegan bread: baguettes (300 yen) and the blueberry bagel (260 yen).
The vegetarian burger buns use egg wash so they’re not vegan, unless you get with lettuce (as noted on the menu). Most of the breads have labels showing allergens so you can see which don’t have egg, dairy, etc. All options contain wheat.
The woman at the counter didn’t speak English or understand my Japanese request to toast a bagel so I don’t think that’s something they offer regularly. There IS a toaster though so maybe point at it around the corner and see if that...
Read moreThis is a popular spot, and on the day I went there was a queue. There's good reason for the popularity: their baked goods are tasty. The bakery has a variety of bagels and scones, among other things.
I was a little confused about how one manages to secure a table before standing in the queue to order - which seems to be the way to do it - because it's the same queue as the one for goods from the bakery to take home. But the staff were friendly and accommodating.
They have some nice vegetarian options. I had the avocado vegetarian burger, which is more of a veggie roll - it has no veg pattie. It was delicious...
Read moreThis is a small local bakery with a huge selection of bagels, rolls, and pastries. It isn't set up for foreigners, though there are English labels on most items. Confusing directions though. At the entrance, there's a sign in English that says to skip the (very long and slow) line and go to the seating area. So we did. Then someone came over and said (using a translate app) to get back in line and pay first. By this time the line was out the door and we saw no evidence of coffee so we sadly left.
