Hugely disappointed after reading so many good reviews and coming to try this place at 3pm. Wanted to try thick egg with eel set, but waitress told us there was none left and the only option was to go with raw egg set. They then messed up with our orders and served me cold and dried out eel - the worst I have ever had in Japan. We then noticed the local guests next to our table were all eating a set not on the menu, with thick egg and eel (which they told us they ran out)! We asked, and the response was this is a “special set” for the day, which requires a coupon and could not be served to other guests. I came with huge expectation. It may be a gem for the locals, but definitely not friendly to non-JP...
Read moreIf you like tamago gohan (raw egg mixed with soy sauce eaten with rice), this place is very fun! You order various toppings (e.g. mentaiko, simmered beef, umeboshi, nori) to go with your tamago gohan. They provide refills of rice and eggs as needed to finish off your toppings. I enjoyed the mentaiko (fish eggs) and umeboshi (sour pickled plum) mixed in with the tamago gohan.

All delicious! Eggs and rice were refillable for free! The raw eggs with bonito, soy sauce and rice was a new type of dish for me but really enjoyable. The eggs are fresh and are packed with flavour, and the eels was cooked very well and had a nice flavoured marinade.
Surprisingly quiet despite it being immediately outside Himeji castle! 100%...
