A Slice of Mexico Near Motoyawata: Sand's Diner is a Must-Try!
Stepping into Sand's Diner near Motoyawata Station is an experience that starts the moment you approach the entrance. From the outside in, the entire space is a vibrant, detailed work of art. The design team clearly poured their hearts into creating an atmosphere that is nothing short of magical, it truly felt like walking onto a movie set, specifically the lively, colorful world of Disney's "Coco". Every corner, from the entryway to the thoughtful interior decor, transports you straight to Mexico.
While the atmosphere is a showstopper, the food is certainly not playing second fiddle. Our meal was fantastic, starting with the complimentary nacho chips and three house-made salsas. This was a great start; the chips were crisp, and the variety of salsas offered a wonderful range of flavors, from mild to spicy.
For our main courses, we ordered the Chicken Burrito and the Taco Rice. Both were generously portioned and packed with flavor. The star, however, was the seasoning on the taco meat, it was incredibly savory, perfectly spiced, and had a depth of flavor that made the Taco Rice an instant favorite. The Chicken Burrito was equally satisfying, expertly wrapped and loaded with delicious fillings.
Overall, Sand's Diner is a gem. It delivers a perfect combination of immersive, detailed ambiance and genuinely delicious, authentic-tasting Mexican cuisine. We left already planning our next visit to explore more of their menu. If you're looking for a great meal and a fun, unique dining experience near Motoyawata, we highly recommend this...
Read moreFood gets four stars. We got burritos and nachos. Very decent, although honestly a little overpriced. Since it’s Mexican food in Japan, it gets the novelty pricing since most people don’t realize it really shouldn’t cost that much.
Unfortunately after more than a 30-minute drive, there was a large group of incredibly loud, extremely drunk Kansai-wannabes inside when we walked in. I couldn’t hear my wife who was sitting right across from me.
One person in the group was passed out, face-down on the table, involuntarily vomiting PROFUSELY all over the place. And yet the table was still ordering and being served drinks. Would you believe this was a Thursday AFTERNOON??
At some point the staff should have exercised some responsibility and gotten a hold of the situation, but instead they just pretended nothing was happening and literally fueled the problem.
We didn’t want to continue hearing someone puking and watching his friends run around trying to clean it up while the staff ignored it all. So we left early.
We were compensated with coupons….for free...
Read moreFirst of all, Taka-san the manager is awesome and was really accommodating with me and the no meat/vegetarian dietary restrictions I had. He let me know what ingredients were in things, which I really appreciate. Also, the food is cooked with SPICY peppers, and it's DELICIOUS. I'm always complaining the food isn't spicy enough in Japan, but their volcano mountain did me in. Fantastic! The restaurant feels like a Mexican restaurant like in the US, especially like south Texas area. Just all around great service, awesome food, cheap drinks at happy hour, and I'm definitely...
