昌徳園 — Restaurant in Kanazawa

It is a small restaurant, and I highly recommend you make a reservation. It gets smoky in there, you have been warned. It is like a mom and pop shop, set up is simple, no fancy plates or glasses.

I am not sure if they have an English menu. They serve Noto Beef here, it is the local beef. You need to know which part of the meats you want to order. Their gyu bara (beef brisket), harami (skirt steak), jo kalubi (short ribs), roast are so damn good.

The meat is quite good but they are dishonest. For tourists they almost double the price on the menu. I had beef ribs and a large beer and should have spent 1900 yen. Instead, the bill was 3500 yen, and when I asked for an explanation, they replied by saying that the menu showed the prices but without the taxes (which is patently implausible, especially for a bill that almost doubled).
