What a disappointment, but as one American being served by a haughty and rude American, you know when you’re in for a poor experience.
Like others, I was told to sit at a communal table. Okay, that’s fine. I understand space constraints. But it was in direct view of the heater blowing my hair about. I felt scared to move to the opposite side of the table.
My partner had planned to come in, but I suggested that we go elsewhere when I finished my cappuccino. Why? Because I heard his rudeness time and again. He talked about our Starbucks ruined “flat whites”. When a woman came up and asked about a food menu, he pointed over his shoulder and said, “As I said, the food menu is on the blackboard,” as if she was a doofus that was hard of hearing.
Finally, I sat and read their reviews. Go sort by the lowest entries. Not once does the owner take responsibility for failures. He only points out why everyone is wrong about the service they got or how the food meet the highest standards. As a business owner, I know we screw up sometimes. Own it!
Starbucks — the company running flat whites for us all — is around the corner....
Read moreCurio Espresso and Vintage Design Cafe is simply amazing and is definitely worth the visit if you are in Kanazawa.
The cafe/restaurant is beautifully decorated, spacious and has a relaxing atmosphere to it - perfect for enjoying a coffee or meal. It’s also very clean and well maintained.
The staff are very nice and accommodating - service with a smile. The cafe is English friendly and they also have an English menu available.
Everything on the menu is wonderful. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich with chilli sauce, cheese and red onions, which was delicious. The bun was toasted to perfection. Also ordered the chicken salad wrap, which was equally delicious. All the ingredients were fresh and of high quality.
They have an extensive selection of coffees/coffee drinks to choose from and offer daily specials. You can also order teas, juices and other beverages.
They also have Covid safety measures in place, which was most appreciated.
The next time you are in Kanazawa, I recommend you stopping by Curio Espresso and Vintage Design Cafe for a great coffee or meal experience - you’ll be happy you’d stopped...
Read moreWe visited spring of this year and I’ve only just gotten round to this review. We were greeted with a reserved politeness bordering on sterile, which didn’t bother me too much initially. The woman made a passive aggressive remark, reminding us that this was a “food place”, which I felt was unneeded. Three of us were already dining and we would’ve still been seated at the table for four, given that that was the only table free when we arrived. Would they have wanted to keep the one seat empty to put a stranger with us had it been extremely busy? On this occasion, it was quite sedate, so I have to wonder why that comment was made if not to attempt to put us in our place.
The breakfast food was standard. The bagel with cream cheese was as you would expect—nothing out of the ordinary. The croissant, on the other hand, was unfortunately burnt. As the breakfast was nothing to write home about, I would not return due to the owner’s...
