Kanazawa Nanahoshi Curry — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Although this curry place seems very good, it's just a huge tourist trap for people to fall in, when only a small number of restaurants are open. Here is the list of things I didn't like: -the prices are expensive for Japan (small quantities) -the pictures are lies, where everything looks big and when you get your food you realize how big of a joke this curry house is -I for example, ordered an extra egg on top, when I received my order I didn't even notice it was on the plate (it was the fourth of an egg) -Finally they serve a very small quantity of rice, two or three meat pieces and loaaads of sauce

Basically just the only bad Japanese place I have eaten in my entire trip Expensive prices for Japan (seems normal for Americans and Europeans but isn't) and not a lot of food...

Nanahoshi was a nice find. It's a stair up and can be missed, but once you're inside you are greeted by nice views of parks, the city hall and the pedestrians of this laid-back city from their large sunny windows. The curries are vegetarian-friendly and reasonably priced. They were topped with raisins which did well to soothe their masala flavors. It was a really nice experience sitting at the window with the view and sipping thru some local kanazawa ale.

You also get a small jello dessert and a cup of soup along with it. Their comatose sauce lives up to the name packs a lot of spice!

It would be nice to have an option to just get the curry without the rice in case someone wants seconds or just wants to enjoy the deep flavors of their curry...

This curry place boasts "Kanazawa curry", which I never really knew was a thing. It's more like, a hearty stew and not like Japanese brown curry. It's Takenoko (bamboo shoot) season, and their seasonal curry for April was bamboo and chicken, which was delicious. I got the set menu which included 2 kinds of curry, a (bean?taro?) soup of some sort, an orange gelatin dessert, and a drink (which I substituted for beer for extra)- the set itself was around Y1000, but the beer substitution made it somewhere around Y1500- still pretty good for a set meal price.
