Found this Jazz place in the middle of Kanazawa and enjoyed the vibe and music last 25th of December. Really felt the warm holiday spirit as we witnessed patrons having reunions & listening to Jazz Christmas music together. The owner has a full and quality set of music equipment & instruments which gave justice to the performance & played his vinyl records while waiting for the sets. Will definitely come back for the music and atmosphere 🫶

1971年5月オープンのライブハウスとしては老舗中の老舗、もっきりや。 まずはこのユニークなネーミングは1968年にガロと言うマンガ雑誌に掲載された「もっきりやの少女」から取って命名したとのこと。 ご主人の平賀さんは音楽にも本にも映画にもこだわりの強い「文化人」タイプだ。 当初はフォーク系のアーティストなどが出演していたようだが、最初の有名アーティストが海外アーティストで、レイブライアントだったとのことだ。それ以外ではバーニーケッセルやシンガーソングライターの高田渡などが、印象深いライブだったらしい。 個人的にはジブリで有名な二階堂和美やチャカ、山下洋輔、佐山ま雅弘あたりがお好きだとのこと。 とにかく居心地良い、読書に合う空間を半世紀に渡って守ってきている。学生からいきなりこの店を始めたということで、まさに平賀さんの人生がもっきりやそのものである。 是非1〜２時間まったりしてみてほしい。

Lovely cafe. We went for lunch and were shocked to see such a great place hidden in the streets of Kanazawa. The man behind the bar is so nice and makes the food himself. It felt as though we had been let into someone's house but we had known him for ages.
