Sushi Waka — Restaurant in Kanazawa

I got really lucky with this place. I only had a few hours in Kanazawa and I wanted to get away from the tourist spots to experience true Kanazawa sushi. A very traditional Japanese sushi restaurant with fantastic service. Right away I knew this place was the real deal. I enjoyed the 9 piece nigiri with the chef recommended Kaga Tobi sake. I unexpectedly made friends with other patrons (Kanazawa locals). It was a family of 4 generations eating lunch together. I learned from the new friends that the chef is famous (also very humble) in the area. I will visit again when I return to Kanazawa....

Incredible omakase sushi experience, would absolutely recommend. Both sushi chefs were very kind and accommodating to foreigners and did their best to translate the dishes into English. Very inventive cooked and prepared dishes and both sashimi and nigiri were fresh, varied, and incredible value. The fatty tuna and anago were highlights, and they had an excellent selection of local sakes from the region. Wish we had another night in Kanazawa so we could return for another...

Very welcoming and accommodating even though we could only converse over an app. The best omakase in Japan without the lines and hustle.
