Maimon Sushi Kanazawa Station — Restaurant in Kanazawa

Absolutely fantastic sushi in Kanazawa station. We never would've thought this would be as good as it was. Given how close to the coast Kanazawa is, the fish were incredibly fresh.

Great price for some of the best sushi we had during our trip. The Google directions are great at locating this space but the information desk will guide should you need additional help.

Came primarily for the nigiri. The fish was exquisite, we highly recommend you ask the sushi chef for any local options that won't be on the English menu if you want a more authentic experience. It is worth asking!

It's not that cheap but you get good value from the quality and freshness of the seafood, unlike most sushi places located at or around train stations. The chefs have good skills too. It may look simple, but the simple things take good skills and experience to execute. There were local residents dining in and doing takeouts so that says a lot.

They have an English menu which also has Chinese and Korean explanations. Tanaka (田中) san speaks great English and takes good care of his customers.

This is a typical train station sushi place. These types of places tend to hit above their weight, and this is one of those places. The sushi was well prepared and very fresh, probably helped by the considerable turnover they see every day. It is nice that you can order by the piece here and don't have to order a big set menu. We enjoyed it so much that we tried to return the next day with a friend who was not with us the first time and were told the wait would be at least 30 minutes. We got lucky the first night!
