串かつ華最善 — Restaurant in Kawanishi

About a 5-minute walk from Kawanishinoseguchi station, this place can be a little hard to find. However, the service is fast and friendly. The kushikatsu isn't the best I've had, but it's still pretty good and reasonably priced and the selection of alcohol is somewhat simple but includes some homemade liquors and some bottled imports (but is reasonably priced as well). The decor is very retro, with neon signs and corrugated steel walls which gives it something of a 50s Americana feel, but doesn't feel hokey...

Tucked in a small alley way , I passed this place too many times ignoring it thinking it will be the same run off the mill place serving the same frozen fried sticks. But to my surprise this place was super good food. The kushikatsu had the perfect balance of breading to meat/ vegetables ratio. Will certainly recommend anyone passing through Kawanishi...

18時30分過ぎに入店。 ピンクのネオンがちょっとキャバクラの名残りを感じる。 お店の作りや席の配置も串かつ屋さんというより、かなりキャバクラ風。

先客は無し。 かなり広い店内に1人。

抱っこ紐に赤ちゃんを抱いた女性店員さんがお出迎え＆ご案内。

カウンター内には、男性店主さん。 こちらの女性店員さん、男性店主さんの奥様でしょうか。

とりあえずの角ハイボールを注文して、メニュー確認。

お通し的にポップコーンが出てきたよ。

玉ねぎとじゃがいもの串かつは60円。 その他も大体、100～200円くらい。 カジュアルな値段がたまらんよね。

頼んだものは以下。

食べたもの ・牛バラ 120円 ・まぐろ 120円 ・子持ちししゃも 150円 ・馬力 にんにく素揚げ 100円

呑んだもの ・角ハイボール 380円 ・レモンサワー ...
