Japan is famous for animal cafes, many of which don't treat their animals very well. Here's one that doesn't involve any exploitation of sentient beings, as the "animals" are all robots!
At Lovot Cafe, after you place your order, the staff brings a Lovot to your table for you to play with for about 20 minutes. Lovots are adorable, childlike robots that are warm to the touch. It's fun to see their reactions to your voice and touch. They may even feel so relaxed that they fall asleep! Each Lovot is unique and has its own personality.
After 20 minutes at your table, the Lovot is taken away for "nap time", and you can enjoy your food for 30-40 minutes. Finally, the staff will call you to the "stage", where you can sit and play with a few Lovots at a time for 10 minutes. After that, the experience is over.
The food isn't really the reason you go to a place like this, but luckily the menu does list one item that can be veganized, the Grilled Vegetable Curry. Included in the price of the meal is one soft drink and the experience fee. The portion of curry felt a little small, but it was very tasty, and seemed healthy too.
This is a unique, fun experience. If you're even the slightest bit interested, I recommend you check it out...
Read moreAbsolutely 5 Star experience! The staff were so kind and friendly and provided us with an English menu and instructions. The Lovots are so cute and we had the perfect amount of time with them. The food is absolutely delicious, some of the best we have had in Japan! The experience is really centered around the Lovots and the time you get to see all of them at the end is great. A staff member even picked up one at the end to wave us goodbye! Overall a really reasonably priced experience for a full meal and plenty of time to interact with the Lovots in a lovely environment. It was nice that there were lots of people there solo who were made to feel very...
Read moreWe had a fun time here with robots and enjoying the food. You must make a reservation through their website as they allow only 70 mins in store. You must purchase food for each member in your party in order to get a lovot robot. Also you cannot demand which robot you want - the staff picks any random that is fully charged and hand to you after you have placed the order. The robots have pretty basic functions and in our case it probably didn’t take much English commands but was still a fun experience. The food was really good - we ordered avocado hamburger , French toast and kids meals. All were...
