MOKUBA'S TAVERN（木馬） — Restaurant in Kobe

Visited this place around 3 PM on a Sunday, the jazzy atmosphere is immediately noticeable and definitely a strong suit if you're into jazz music! We were seated immediately, even though the cafe seemed crowded. We ordered a baked cheesecake, a black tea chiffon cake, an ice coffee, and an ice café au lait. The drinks were delicious and refreshing, and the chiffon cake was fluffy, fresh and tasty. The cheesecake on the other hand left a lot to be desired, suffice to say you'd be much better off trying their other cake options. The cake and drink set price was a bit on the expensive side, especially when compared to other cafes in the Sannomiya/Motomachi area, but only by a margin of ¥200~300. Go for the chiffon cake...

Nice atmosphere, cool tunes, good food and drink and a perfect place to relax and chat with friends or just mull over things slowly. Can get smoky which is not good, but I guess it’s the jazzy image and all that. Been around for years, but clean...

私がソプラノの深川和美さんに初めて会ったのは、2004年4月北野ガーデンで開催された、楽天の三木谷社長やヴィッセル神戸の三浦知良選手他をお招きしたパーティにおいてでした。その時の深川さんはエンジン全開で、勢いがあり絶好調でした。私も勘違いの極致の頃で、相当元気がありました。それから7年程経ち、FBで偶然コンタクトが復活し、2011年12月に深川さんのホームグラウンドの「木馬」で再開しました。何か枯れた感じというか、憑き物が落ちた感じというか（笑）、年齢の経過を感じたのは、決して私の方だけだったのではなかったように思います。

この木馬は震災前は、三宮センター街にありました（1977年のオープン）。震災後トアロードの1本西側の筋の地下に移られ、現在のトアロード沿いに移られたのが2005年3月です。オーナーの小西武志さんが31歳の時に始められ、昼はカフェ、夜はバーとなります。店の雰囲気も、移転を重ね確かにこだわりにこだわり抜いた部分の角が若干取れて、円熟味が深まってきたように思います。神戸らしい趣味のいい、老舗のジャズのお店とし...
