Morozoff Kobe main store — Restaurant in Kobe

really nice modern and spacious dessert restaurant. unfortunately they have a bad system of managing queues. i was standing looking at two empty seats for 35 minutes, only to be put at the same two empty seats when it is my turn because the groups ahead of me were in groups of 3 or 4 who cannot fit into the two empty seat. Most other restaurants would know how to optimise and reduce the time customer would spend standing in queue. the desserts were substandard, and is the same item that is packed in takeaway style at the front of the restaurant which is their retail shop. honestly, the pudding quality is not too far from what you can get from family mart. totally not worth the queue. classic case of me getting conned by long queues and nice looking restaurant, only to taste below average dessert at high prices. I should learn my lesson by now, but curiousity really kills the cat as they say hahahaha. hope my review helps other avoid...

The store front is located along the central shopping street, but had some trouble initially finding it on Google map as the walking directions guided me to the back of the store. The wait time was around 30min before I was served and seated. The food came rather quickly after I ordered and it was excellent. I especially appreciated that the service staff attempted to communicate in English after knowing that I'm not Japanese. I had the tea set that came with waffles, custard pudding and ice cream. The waffles was especially to my liking. It was a great experience overall but I felt that the restaurant is a little small and the atmosphere could be better with a little more space...

When in Kobe, it's important to try the Kobe pudding which is known as a specialty to the locality. Cafe Morozoff came up as one of the recommendations. Available for a limited time, I tried the Summer Dessert plate (¥1375) which consists of a mini cheescake, coffee jelly parfait, and a mini pudding. The cheesecake had a citrus flavour to it and came with a small dollop of whipped cream. I thought the cheesecake could have been more cheesy in flavour. The pudding with some caramel sauce was slightly sweet and melted in my mouth. The food here is a little pricey but it's worth an experience if passing...
