This is one of the famous ramen shops in Kumamoto, with its unique pork bone soup that is rich and has a very fragrant roasted garlic oil.
Talking about the impression : It was amazing! I was impressed by the flavor of the soup, which was extremely well-rounded and had a fragrant aroma of roasted garlic. It made me forget about ordinary pork bone soup ramen. It is truly one of Kumamoto's best foods.
Talking about the atmosphere: Like most ramen restaurants, you order your food from the vending machine at the front and then the staff will bring you to your seat. The staff will check at your order on a printed ticket then, the kitchen will process on preparing your food according to your order.
I ordered a regular sized ramen and asked them not to put bean sprouts because I don’t like them. They did it right and made my dish even more delicious. The menu is available in Japanese, English and Chinese, making ordering easy for international customers. There are also products available for purchase at the front of the shop, such as ramen and various sauces that are unique to the shop.
Overall, I was very impressed. I will definitely go back to eat at this...
Read moreKokutei specialises in a pork bone soup base with a strong garlic punch to it. If you can't handle garlic, don't bother here. But if you do like garlic, this bowl of ramen is engineered to keep you slurping up your noodles and wanting more. The noodles are quite thick and very firm. Chashu pork slices and vegetable toppings are standard quality. Ramen joints seem to love offering extra egg yolks for sale, but I'd probably hold back from buying their egg ramen and just add a half-boiled egg on your standard ramen. Those taste a million times better than diluting your soup with egg yolks. Their homemade gyoza dumplings have a nice meat and vegetable filling, but could be fried a little more as the outside wasn't very crispy. It's a place of great value and locals keep coming in all night, so expect a...
Read moreLol I hate this place. This is by far the most flavorless, and therefore pointless and bad ramen I've had in Japan. The only saving grace is that the noodle texture is nice. I ordered their specialty two egg ramen with the char sui topping. It smelled like hakata in the shop (not for me) but the ramen literally had no flavor. It tasted like someone forgot to put the seasoning packet in. The charsui came on the side with a huge pile of bean sprouts I wouldn't order, which then went to waste. I spotted a little container of soy sauce near the end, I thought to myself, maybe I need to put this in and that will give the ramen flavor. I did, it didn't, and I feel I probably was not supposed to. This is bad. Line is unwarranted....
