Delicious Japanese inspired Italian food!

This place is a cozy spot that's a little tough to find for a tourist like me but Google Maps makes it easy esp if you're on foot. I was walking from Kurashiki JR station and I got turned around once but didn't veer off the route very far before realizing I missed a turn down a small street before backtracking slightly to correct.

When you step inside the restaurant, you find yourself in an atmosphere that is very welcoming, cozy and has a feel of being in an old cafe in Europe. The restaurant is run by a husband and wife team and they are busy serving each and every customer well. Even though there was a language barrier, the wife made an effort to covey things in English and it was helpful to use the Google Translate on my phone to facilitate reading what was on the menus and ordering. Both were friendly and welcoming to all of the guests.

With regards to the food, each dish I ordered was delicious. For the appetizers, I had avocado and cream cheese bruschetta and squid ajillo. As a second course, I ordered a very flavorful plate of beef tagliata that was seared perfectly followed by the main dish of seasonal Japanese vegetable spaghetti. To cap it off for dessert, the homemade tiramisu was amazing! I also don't want to forget that the food was complemented perfectly by a lovely syrah.

This is definitely the spot in Kurashiki to have Italian food. It's too bad that they're only open for dinner. Highly recommended! Please note, they are a cash only...

We had a lovely evening at this little restaurant located just outside the historic Bikan area. The couple who have the place are delightful. The food is absolutely delicious. We shared a cheese and meat plate which came with crackers. My husband had 4 cheese risotto and I had spaghetti amatriciana. Both tasted really delicious.
