Lift Up Coffee — Restaurant in Kusatsu

Took a 15-20 minute walk from the bus station with very heavy luggage to grab a flat white. Ended up waiting for around an hour to return frustrated. Never returning here; I advise that everyone think twice before visiting this relatively far-off shop.

Having an unannounced break is one thing I can understand - I arrived at 1:15pm but decided to wait until the shop reopens at 2pm. The interior looked really nice, I was willing to take a chance.

But not opening at the proposed time is just unacceptable despite the apparent lack of coffee choices in this town. No amount of "great" coffee can be an excuse. We were NOT the only people to be frustrated in the course of the hour. At least...

Was in search of coffee in Kusatsu and this place is certainly a nice surprise in an otherwise very Japanese town - expresso is not your typical Japanese coffee. We ordered two flat white and the lady took her time putting coffee beans on a scale and separately made our order (unlike some places that would combine the milk for efficiency). The flat white tastes a bit mild to my liking - not sure how many shots were there. I’d clarify and ensure my drink at least has two...

Coming from Australia it can be hard sometimes to find really nice coffee in Japan - but if you’re looking for a good coffee, this is definitely the place to go to! We ordered a honey latte and an almond latte (both hot) and they were just perfectly smooth and delicious. Absolutely recommended!

Ps: they don’t sell food there at the moment but you can add some nice cookies to your coffees which go...
