Gion Kitagawa Hanbee — Restaurant in Kyoto

A modern cafe in a renovated 120-year-old Kyoto townhouse located in a quiet alley just off the hustle and bustle of Gion. You can visit before 18:00 and after 18:00, there are cocktails on a different menu, and the interior of the store has indirect lighting and comfortable sofas, so you can relax in an ennui adult atmosphere.

I ordered a menu that comes with 5 types of tea (matcha, sencha, hojicha, Japanese oolong tea, and Japanese black tea) and bite-size sweets that match each of them. The different flavors of tea, the different tastes of sweets, etc. are very fun, and will tickle the hearts of women who want to enjoy a little bit of a lot of variety, and make them feel rich.

Super Family unfriendly place. Even they don’t say it. My kids got discriminated by server and violence.

They are judged how much you ordered, where you are from, also judge by skin and colour.

They don’t tell you but they change service style which I can see and feel difference compared with others. Typically bad Kyoto personality culture.

they also don’t give you how much cost you spend if you order less than 10,000 JPY. They don’t care if you spend too less. They just ask pay by Cash or credit. Never tell you the price.

We stopped by here for a matcha dessert set and some drinks. It was very empty and the atmosphere is chill and peaceful. I got an iced hojicha with the desserts, and my husband got a yuzu beer from Far Yeast Brewing company (lol). The drinks were very good, the desserts tasted very strongly of matcha and were pretty good, but I think it was a little overpriced and a bit of a tourist trap.
