Very bad experience at this hotel.First, the room is smaller than others in Kyoto and Osaka. When you enter the room, there is a musty smell. We lost jewels here. We checked out in the morning and went out to play. Around 14:00 (hotel check-in time before 15:00), we found that our jewelry was left in the hotel. We asked the hotel to check if it was still in the room. They said new guests Already checked in, then we asked if it was okay to call new guests, but was refused by the hotel manager, she explained that we couldn't go upstairs. In desperation, we bought another room for one night (we had told the staff that we were going to Osaka later and could not stay in Kyoto). They agreed with us to pay for an extra night. The price given by the hotel manager was 6,000 yen higher than the price we booked online at the same time.Shocked then, they gave us the key card for the same room we were staying in (previously they said there were guests in it) and when we went upstairs there was no one living in it at all and the room hadn't been cleaned. After entering the room, we asked the staff to come up, and a Chinese-speaking staff appeared at the same time, explaining that no guests came in before, but the staff put the luggage of the new guests in, and then because they wanted to give this room to us, so Come in and change the luggage of the new guest to another room. Isn't this funny? It was said before that new guests cannot be disturbed inside, so how can they come in and take their luggage at will now? The Chinese-speaking staff member also asked: Are all you Chinese like this? Including the indifferent attitude of the hotel manager, who did not feel their attitude of wanting to solve the problem. We asked if we could contact the cleaning staff who cleaned this room today, and the hotel replied: they are off work and not in the hotel. In the end, we paid for an extra night and went to the police station to report the loss.We understand that sometimes you can't get things back if you leave them at the hotel, but the hotel front desk manager and staff are unhelpful, very unprofessional and don't think about the guests and don't want to fix the problem. There was such an unpleasantness, and they didn't even feel sorry. (I would like to thank the staff who helped us clean the room a few days ago, the very patient and understanding lady translated and explained to us).Do not recommend this hotel and will...
Read moreThe hotel itself is well designed contemporary and modern. Price is a bit high, but located in the center of Kyoto and easy to exist to anywhere. But unfortunately I have a very bad experience with this hotel, The main problem is that the hotel service is terribly bad. I won’t recommend to any friend of mine to stay.
This is a reason: I went in 15th December 2018 around 15pm the reception desk wasn’t busy at all. Me and my husband's book one room and my best friend book her room as well. We went to check in and hotel staff( Jessica) was not friendly at all no smile, no greetings and not even a explain with hotel facilities (ex: public bath, breakfast time, room details... etc.) when I asking for a complete my payment she told me to wait and it's because she want to do in same time check in my friend room too. I have been to Japan more than 20times this never happened to me before. The way she treats us is very irreverence to customers. Afterwards, I told her about the attitude that she had wasn’t very nice and she seems not feel sorry or anything bad just says she had a bad day and I should just accept it?!
And in the last day we stay. Early morning we went to breakfast just in front of the breakfast entrance the stuff told my friend she can’t go in for a breakfast because her room price wasn’t included but yesterday she can?! So we went to the reception desk to ask. And the stuff can’t even understand well English and just keep asking my room number and same time asking where’s my husband?! And I told her me and my friend's room were booked individually and is strange to happen book at once but breakfast got separate payment for a whole stayed, after 30mins argue finally she finds out it was hotel system mistake and of course no apologize, the stuff were just say we can go for breakfast now, like nothing happened before! we’ll how friendly this hotel staff can be! We are really disappointed. I will definitely not...
Read moreMy daughter and I had a lovely stay at this hotel. It is situated on a side street in Gion away from the crowds. The location is close to so many local restaurants. We had a lunch set at the gyoza restaurant next door. An amazing deal. Also nearby is yakitori or Tempura restaurant. Down south from the hotel about 200-300 m is a fish market place that is packed and has amazing fish to grill -well priced compared to restaurants in the touristy parts.||The hotel is understated and very well serviced. We had a superior double room (17 square meters ) in a Japanese room which has a tatami floor and bed a bit lower to the floor, and table /chair closer to the ground. Not recommended of you have poor knees. It was located on the fourth floor. Like many hotels is was small but sufficient with carry on luggage.||The hotel has a public onsen which I used after a long day of sight seeing and walking. I used it twice between 4-5 and was the only one there. It is separated into men’s and women’s baths. You need a special key card to enter.||Breakfast buffet was extensive including Japanese and western options. Personally , I prefer the Japanese rice, fish , veggie and miso meal over eggs and sausages. They also have free coffee and tea all day, and serve snacks from 11-5 pm ( rice crackers). The amenities bar is very good ie. face products, sunscreen, etc. There is also a laundry facility which we used . Thee is a small bar. The staff at the reception are very kind and helpful .||If I return to Kyoto I would be happy to stay here again! Book early (30 days in advance ) to get a better rate.||Also, if you like matcha go to Uji town about 45 min south and enjoy that town. There is a green tea museum that has educational programs - must book in advance to participate in the green tea grinding programs. However, the museum, albeit small, can be entered any time for a fee (600...
