Kimono Mai — Local services in Kyoto

A really Unpleasant feeling… I booked a rental for my 2 teenage daughters. And maybe I was not enough aware but it seems everything is made to suggest to rent the more expensive ones… The cheaper rental options have no visibility (I didn’t even realize they where actual kimono because fully folded)… the prices are indeed written but nobody will lead you to look behind you to the less expensive ones. Because of that I didn’t realized that other options or other shop where available without booking and in the end what I thought would cost me 70 euro max costed more than 200 euro…

Yes the kimonos where beautiful, sure… but I didn’t need and didn’t want that higher level for my daughters… kind of a bitter...

WOW! I can’t say enough about this shop. If you are a black woman, a woman of color or someone that is bigger than an Asian woman. Please go here. They were so helpful and made me feel like I wasn’t a burden. The kimonos are a little small for bigger women but they did everything they could to make sure I fit into/wore the one I really loved. They told me my hair was beautiful and asked really thoughtful respectful questions about my hair and being a black woman. This place really made the our first time experience in Kyoto a special one. Highly recommend, they got a great selection at various price...

店面很小很小很小，換衣服的地方只能塞下兩人，做髮型的地方也只有兩個很小的位子、空間非常窄。

我們預約了早上9點，在這麼窄的空間裏店家居然在同一時段接待兩組客人，也就是七到八個人同時擠在這個空間，我們只穿了裏面白色那件內衬就被趕去做頭髮，店員為了趕在下一組客人來之前用完只能一直催趕我們做選擇。

和服、腰帶和髮飾的選擇很多，但因為太多客人，店員忙著照顧其他人，所以沒時間給我們建議或幫我們挑選喜歡的，如果你是想要慢慢挑選喜歡的和服的話不建議你到這間和服店。包包和帶締的選擇則很少，晚一點到也就剩下一些不好看的。

穿和服時沒有很細心，我離開和服店沒多久和服就變得鬆鬆的，我甚至可以穿著和服大步走路（正常是只能小碎步的），和服沒有貼緊身型拍照時就顯得很奇怪不好看。

髮型方面，髮型師只有問我盤髮可不可以，沒有跟我討論更多就開始幫我做頭髮，當天瀏海狀況不太好，但髮型師就好像沒看到一樣並沒有幫我整理，語言不通我用我破爛的日文提出瀏海怪怪的，髮型師就直接把梳子給我要我自己整理，我又不好意思坐著用很久所以只能隨便了。

雖然老闆娘很熱情，也有積極幫我們解決問題，但整體體驗實在沒有很好。 —————————————————————

我選了振袖一件4萬日幣的價格，當初會選這間並不是因為比其他店舖便宜，而是因為看評論好像好評得多，但實際體驗卻覺得並沒有很好，所以才評論留言希望可以給其他人參考看到。
