We stayed here for 5 nights. The location is incredible (I highly recommend you go to the awesome sushi joint right near the hotel). The hotel is tucked away from the craziness of the main streets, so we got such restful sleep. The actual room was large, the beds were comfy and we had no complaints. Front desk has a ton of great toiletries like lotion, face wash, face oil, face lotion, razers, hair brushes, teas, coffees etc. They also had a ton of guides and info for the area, and arranged our luggage transfer from the hotel to Tokyo - even helping us fill the form out. The traditional japanese breakfast was good, although, like others mentioned the breakfast room could use an update because it felt like a break room. The interior of the hotel was really pretty as well. This hotel was a fraction of the others in the area, and we are super super happy with our stay. I was a little nervous because it only had a 4/5 on google, but we we're more than happy with our stay. It was our favorite hotel in Japan. The hotel was also close to the train station which made it convenient. We took a taxi to/from Kyoto Station which was super cheap on the Go app, so we did not have to worry about getting luggage around. You can easily get from Kyoto station to the hotel on public transport, but we opted not to and are glad because bumpy streets and luggage just don't sound fun. Front desk staff was really great and we truly enjoyed our stay. We would 100% stay again and highly recommend this budget...
Read moreWow! Just wow! This was the biggest surprise I've ever had from a hotel stay. I'd booked the deluxe twin room and was expecting a small room like everywhere else in Japan. But I walked in to discover a very spacious room, HUGE bathroom with a very large tub and separate shower area, and most surprising of all... my own private sauna!|The hotel is located in the heart of Gion, but once you are in the hotel it is a serene quiet setting where you don't hear any noise from outside. |They have so many toiletries in front of the lifts for you to take up to your room, including face wash, skin lotion, moisturiser and many more. Cleaning is done every 2-3 days but they will give you clean towels and yukata every day, rubbish bins can also be emptied every day, plus they give you 2L of bottled water every day. |Breakfast is Japanese style only, which I have no problem with. It's a set where you get fish, egg, pickled veg, rice and miso soup. This doesn't really change much day by day so for long stay it does get repetitive. This might be my only grouse with staying here, as I was staying 7 nights. |Overall I couldn't be more impressed with hotel Sasarindou and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Gion, as for the price I paid I got so much. It is by far the best value I ever had from any hotel stay in...
Read moreSituated in a side street in the heart of Gion and where the Geisha can be seen hurrying to appointments, Hotel Sasarindou if perfectly placed. Great for transport with the metro station a hundred metres away. Cross the bridge and there’s a wealth of restaurants and bars to choose from. The hotel rooms themselves are s little tired and quite basic. But, our twin was clean, tidy and spacious enough for our needs. Had to move bed away from window due to freezing cold draft though. Complementary breakfast was adequate and meant I was fuelled up and ready to go. We only stayed for two nights but I would definitely use this hotel again, primarily for the location. Let’s face it, I didn’t visit Kyoto to sit in a hotel room so this hotel gets higher marks than might be the case elsewhere. On our day of departure the hotel kept our luggage secure while we visited more sites and where happy for us to use the lobby sofas before heading for the airport in the early evening. At no additional cost I may add. The Silver Shadow Rolls Royce in the reception !!! Your guess is as good as mine.|Once again, Location,...
