Izusen specializes in Buddhist vegetation cuisine known as shoujin ryori. These are delicious and delicate dishes served in fixed sets. A causal and affordable experience. Try the yuba set. Yuba is the outer skin of tofu. Everything has a mild taste. The dishes are artfully presented. We’ve just had our best meal in Japan !…. We both went for the Y3,000 Tofu kaiseki style meal, and were treated to 15 or so (we lost count) tofu and vegetarian dishes immaculately presented. (We’re normally meat lovers). Fantastic flavours and textures. Lovely staff as well. We didn’t book and just walked in after exploring the superb temple complex opposite. No crowds! Many thanks to the owners for the superb lunchtime...

The place feels so authentic for us tourists. You have traditional kneeled tables or seated ones.

We got the vegetarian set of meals (Teishoku ?) and everything was tasty in addition of being beautiful.

We got plenty of tea, including Matcha 🍵 and sesame sweet for starters, and a glass of fresh water.

lovely vegan restaurant. we ordered the big lunch set which around 4300 Yen ++. It was really a lot and even i had problems finishing it. the taste of each dish was really natural and spot on. presentation was lovely. free tea was served as well. Will be back for sure for another lunch set. worth every Yen. :-)
