The cafe looked nice from outside so we went in just to ask if they allow dogs (we have a Labrador Retriever) in their outside seating area (terrace). We were quite ready to be rejected as most of the restaurants in Japan do not accept dogs. However we were surprised how RUDE and COLD the attitude of them the way they refused us - which is rather unusual in Japan, in Kyoto especially!

Anyway we found out later that the outside seating area is smoking area, so we were glad that we didn’t go there.

Very nice restaurant next to the temple. Food was delicious and staff was very friendly. The menu is available in English so it is very tourists friendly. The Atmosphere was overall very nice. Also the chef makes great desserts, which is very rare in Japan (he has a French diploma in pastry making). You can get a meal for around 1000¥. For the quality of the food, it is extremely cheap. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who plans to visit nearby. Definitely an...

Without doubt this is the best cafe in Kyoto. The food is amazing and includes a nice range of varieties. Every dish, sauce, soup and sweet is unique and tastes great. The staff is super kind and the owners are very generous and friendly. The atmosphere is excellent. You can even have a lunch late afternoon here and enjoy the view to Daitokuji. We especially liked meat doria and balsamic chicken here. Tip: don’t miss the Canele!
