The cafe looked nice from outside so we went in just to ask if they allow dogs (we have a Labrador Retriever) in their outside seating area (terrace). We were quite ready to be rejected as most of the restaurants in Japan do not accept dogs. However we were surprised how RUDE and COLD the attitude of them the way they refused us - which is rather unusual in Japan, in Kyoto especially!
Anyway we found out later that the outside seating area is smoking area, so we were glad that we didn’t go there.

Read moreA lovely cafe opposite the main gate at Daitoku-ji Temple. I went to try the Daitoku natto canelé. It's the only place in Kyoto (and Japan) where you can eat this. You can't really taste the natto, except for a slightly salty addition to the caramelized pastry - It was very nice.
