The Tenmon year (1532-55), Ototomo Sourin, known as the Christian lord of Kyushu, reopened to Tesshu Soukyu, and it was built as his own Bodhi Temple. There are various theories such as Tenmon 2 (1533), 1535, 1543, and 1546 about the year of founding. The temple issue named Zuihou-in is named after Sourin's legal name "Zuihouin-den Zuihou-Sourin Koji".

The garden consists of three gardens, south, north and west, centered on the square. Both were created by Shigemori Mirei, and were built in 1961 in 400 years of the founder Tesshu Soukyu. Dokuza-tei is a Mt. Horai type garden located in the front of the square, and it depicts a rough wave that strikes Ookarikomi and the peninsula and small island that extends from Mt. It is the naming from the rhetoric of "Dokuza daiouhou (it is one of the things that I am sitting here alone, it is worthy to be honored to be here)", which is the word of the Hakujo Miku Hyakujo. Kanmin-tei is a garden of irrigated water with the thought of Christian Daimyo Ootomo Sourin, and when viewed from the back of a Christian lantern on the east side, seven stone structures form a cross. It is the naming from the slogan "Kanmin kougashite seizan ni taisu (it will be a nap while taking a look at a lush mountain with a pillow)". The roji, located between Hojo and Yokei-an, was a novel tea garden with a standing stone basin near the center, covered with blue stone, without using a leek and a piece of grass. It has been rebuilt in recent years, and it has become a typical tea garden called stepping stone for planting...
Read moreVery beautiful, peaceful and quiet place on the premises of the Daitoku-Ji Temple, Zuiho-In is one of the subtemples. Absolutely go to Zuiho-In if you would like see one of the famous stone gardens, but try to avoid Daisen-In (another temple in the Daitoku-Ji) - there are only greedy people trying to sell stuff and a garden the size of...
