Kyoto Gion Saryo — Restaurant in Kyoto

A charming cafe. You remove your shoes and go upstairs to the dining area. We ordered the matcha and white bread combo with the egg salad and a kind of pink jam. The bread was amazingly tasty; soft, pillowy, and warm. The toppings were equally amazing. My friend who tried the corned beef sandwich said the toasted bread was well done and the filling decent, although she was unable to taste the Sichuan peppers in it. The roasted green tea latte, Sakura matcha latte, and matcha latte were all very good. Regarding the Sakura matcha latte: order it if you are fond of a sour/salty and sweet combination of flavours. A relaxing Cafe, with an interior full of Japandi inspiration and great quality menu items, that passes the vibe check.

The coffee is as good as some of the specialist artisan coffee places around Gion, and the bread is freshly baked and a delight.

This place can easily be missed right by one of the temples, but has a nice variety of rooms and spaces to eat, and is a great place to recharge.

The only thing I'd want more of is perhaps one or two more menu items. While great with the few that they do, I think having some eggs available for this great toast would make it a 10/10 place...

Kyoto Gion Saryo was recommended by a friend who somehow found this place and I was pleasantly surprised by a small find, it didn't seem like a popular cafe but it deserved my attention!

I was here last May and we went here for brunch before walking around the area, I remember ordering the very soft signature bread and a refreshing iced matcha. It's worth the visit especially if you make a short stop! The inside of the cafe is bright, modern and looks very new!
