A very beautiful theater: decorated with elegance and a friendly and professional staff. The spring show was beautiful and visually stunning. We opted not to have the English audio guide because we wanted to simply watch. For future attendees, I would recommend at least getting the audio guide so that you can tune in and out of it to your discretion. The singers were talented, the performances were succinct yet delicate. The only thing I wish is that the venue had ushers to help with volume control. There were some rude westerners who were speaking, with no exaggeration, during the entire show. Numerous audience members had turned to shush them, but they did not listen, which ruined the show for many people. It would have been appreciated if the venue had staff to help keep these particular audience members quiet. Other than that, the theater was beautiful and the performances were exceptional. Thank you for sharing Japanese art and culture with us, Miyako Odori!

A truly unique experience which I will never forget! We experienced around 8 stories, taken from Japanese folklore and history, starting in spring and journeying through the seasons until arriving back to Spring. I highly recommend you get an English audio guide, as this helped to explain exactly what was happening during the performance without being too obtrusive. Without the audio guide, we wouldn't know what was happening as non Japanese speakers. The costumes were exquisite and the makeup of the performing Geisha gave them an ethereal beauty (photography was not allowed during the performance). My favourite moment was when the music began and two rows of musicians were revealed from behind hidden panels at either side of the audience. If you are lucky enough to be in Japan when the Miyako Odori is on, and even luckier to get tickets, then it will be an unforgettable experience!

A very unique place to visit. Make sure you buy tickets well in advance. I highly recommend the tea ceremony experience also. You begin with a walk through a small museum of kimonos and other artifacts, then a short walk through a gift shop, then a walk through a beautifully kept garden with water features and greenery. After that, you get seated in a nice area Overlooking the garden while you wait your turn for the tea ceremony. Lastly, you get seated in a wonderful theatre for the show. The show is entirely live performances— music and dancing. It is all in Japanese. They do offer an English program for about 1000 yen if you want to follow what’s going on.

Show is good but the seating design is bad. If your seat is behind a tall person, you will end up hoping for peaks of the show. I had pretty good success by shutting one eye and squinting the other eye and twisting my body into the aisle to see action. Another option was to close your seat and sit on the seat while it was pointing up. Many of us opted for that option since seated int the back row. This was pretty uncomfortable but we were not allowed to just stand so we could see and the staff did not consider moving us to empty seats so we could see better.

Also as you walk to the queue to enter, there is a toilet for disabled or anyone. It is a single stall and sadly no one on the staff was there to indicate to the very long line that there was a bigger restroom with multiple stalls just before the entry to the show. If not enough staff, then a simple sign near the single disabled restroom stall indicating where to find more restrooms would have been so helpful since our queue was twenty deep just a few minutes before the show started. Some of us missed the opening of the show due to the lack of staff help or a simple sign indicating a...
