Great drinks, Even better atmosphere and company!
Bar tender takes recommendations on how to make drinks if he doesn’t know how to make them and improves existing cocktails by using his own spin on them. They’re also the kind of staff to care about the people in it and make sure to take care of their customers. I drink alone, and as a girl I can sometimes feel unsafe, but not here. If the bartenders don’t have my back, the other people at the bar do.
The locals are incredibly kind, and if you speak any Japanese at all, they’re willing to help you practice, some will even help you study and learn. If you’re looking for a place to practice, this is a great spot. There’s some English-speaking locals who will likewise give you a warm welcome.

Read moreFound this extremely cozy bar near my airBNB in Sumizone and thought about giving the Japanese bar experience a try. I went on Nov. 3 a friday, and the bar already had 4 regular patrons enjoying themselves to great drinks and the jazzy old American music playing in the ambient warmly-lit rustic bar.
I asked for a cocktail a previous reviewer posted here, and Takahashi-san, the owner was happy to explain the mixture and prepare it for me. Despite it being my first time at a bar such as this and a foreigner at that, Takahashi-san made sure I enjoyed my drinks and my time with his company. Even the regulars were very kind to chat. Seeing I enjoyed the dried grapefruit, he even offered tasty dried pineapples to try and even a free sake tasting when I asked for sake recommendations!
Encouraging fellow visitors of Sumizone/Fushimi to drop by Takahashi-san’s beautiful bar and try this wonderful experience. But maybe prepare some passion Japanese...
