this place left such a special memory in my heart, i will not forget. Went for dinner and i was alone in the company of Niki, the owner, who prepares and cooks everything by himself, for 16 years now. He truly is an expert and puts all his love and effort into his cuisine: watching him at work felt like attending an art performance. All the ingredients are very fresh and dutifully prepared by him; of course, the beef quality is supreme. Niki though is what makes this place so unique; he kept engaging and was very attentive throughout. For reference, this is the menu i got and would recommend if you’re curious to try a Wagyu course set: Special Kuroge Wagyu Beef Course 1 - 7,000 yen Thank you for this precious experience, i shall...

We were recommended by friends who had been here last year. You can easily miss the entrance as it is not obvious that the unassuming entrance is a restaurant.

However please do make an effort to visit this place as the food is second to none.

It appears to be a one man band/chef who leads you through the various menus and options with a good smattering of English and a great deal of charm.

The fish, beef and vegetables are superb and the roasted and dried garlic that is served with the beef is a must.

It has been the best food so far that we have enjoyed in Japan.

If you in the vicinity of Kyoto make this restaurant your destination of choice you will not be...

There's 2 grills with 8 seats. Then the chef serves you a full course meal and it is some of the best food I've ever eaten. He gave me a steak better than Gordon Ramsey could even dream of. His knife skills are amazing. The precise cuts on some of the veggies are considered to be extremely hard, and he made them absolutely perfect. I got to have a nice conversation with an older Japanese couple and they were very impressed with my chopstick usage what little Japanese I knew. It felt very much like the food was being cooked specifically for me. All of the food was delicious. And the restaurant and kitchen were spotless...

The place was small and very intimate, but traditional and the flavors were very authentic. In addition, the quality of the food was exceptional, worth the price. My favorite part of the entire experience was watching the only chef and host Of the restaurant, prepare, cook, and serve the food all by himself gracefully. He was very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely want to return if I ever visit Kyoto again! Highly recommend this hidden gem.

I must’ve called 20 restaurants to find a reservation for my family and I , children included ages three and eight. I came across steak Ichiro, and was able to get a reservation. The place was small and very intimate, but traditional and the flavors were very authentic. In addition, the quality of the food was exceptional, worth the price. My favorite part of the entire experience was watching the only chef and host Of the restaurant, prepare, cook, and serve the food all by himself gracefully. He was very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely want to return if I ever visit Kyoto again! Highly recommend this hidden gem.
