Sushi Kakuta — Restaurant in Matsumoto

As a solo traveler who doesn’t speak any Japanese, I’ve had a somewhat hard time navigating restaurants in Japan, especially when searching for something authentic. Immediately upon entering, I was welcomed with a great smile and immediate service.

The nigiri was so fresh and delicious, each flavor felt incredibly balanced. The food was so so amazing. The price is quite reasonable (¥2000-4000 per person) and they do have an English menu, making it an easeful experience.

The place itself is very endearing. A little bit on the outskirts of the busy area of town, the place is definitely worth the trip. Very easy-going atmosphere that has been around for about 60 years. The chef was eager to strike up conversation and guide me through the menu.
