ロアジス坂本 — Restaurant in Nagasaki

We two found L'Oasis while planning our first visit to Nagasaki, coming from overseas, and made a dinner reservation. Seating limited for this premium experience. Our high expectations were exceeded. Outstanding food, service, conversation (with the owners), and ambiance. AMBIANCE: 5.0. Quiet restaurant located on narrow back walkways. There is a dining room with a couple of tables and a few seats along a counter facing the kitchen. We were lucky to be seated at the counter and so had a wonderful conversation (in Japanese) with the couple who run the restaurant. We learned a great deal about Nagasaki's rich history and current economy. The walls had a warm hue decorated with attractive framed images. No music to mar the conversation. SERVICE: 5.0. We felt treasured and pampered. Wine recommendations were spot-on, and included glasses of a Spanish Cava, a German (non-sweet) Riesling, and a South African Cabernet Savignon. FOOD: 5.0. We had the highest-level set menu on Christmas Day. A gastronomic feast for the taste buds and for our eyes. Every item was delicious and beautifully presented. Each plate was served on beautiful yet diverse plates. First course (amuse-bouche?): fish with sauce, shrimp, veggies. Second course: locally caught fish in slices. Third course: A specially prepared Consommé. Fourth course: Fried fish slice on daikon slice. Fifth course: Beef tendon. Very high quality Japanese beef. Sixth course: Cheese plate with honey. Seventh course: Dessert: cheesecake, another cake (I don't recall name), garnished with fruit, mint, and carmel cracker. Served with excellent coffee. As noted already, the recommended wines...

綺麗な器に美しい盛付けのお料理を出されるので、期待感が高まります。その期待を裏切らない、食材を活かした美味しいお料理です。 接客も良く、お店の雰囲気も良い。お店が広めなので、他のお客様と近すぎないのも良い。 20:00頃からでもコースをスタート出来るので有難いです。 特別な日に安心して利用できるお店です。 (ここまではコロナ前の投稿) ※追記 コロナ禍の長い休業期間を経て、2022年リニューアルオープンしました。以前とは違って、パーティルームがあった方の建物をリフォームして営業しています。よって入口も変わり、カウンター5席だけのレストランとなっています。相変わらず美味しい。シェフと近くなって、い...
