I love ramen... and I was reallllly hungry when I arrived here. I was so close to getting the big basic ramen bowl, ready to compare it to the all my favorite archived ramen experiences on an even ground. I was curious about the lemon ramen, but again, I was hungry and wanted to compare their best with the best, no gimmicks. The last second I switch it up and got the lemon ramen, I was just so curious. Best decision ever. It was so delicious and memorable I can still recall the taste with my tongue. It’s no gimmick or try-hard. It’s genuine. It’s light, yet not at all, there’s so much flavor, but it arrives to your tongue in an orderly, polite, Japanese fashion. It’s not a hodgepodge of spices that sometimes too crowded ramen throws at you. It’s calculated, yet easy. Give it a try. It’s unique and you won’t regret it. Just add in a couple beers and gyoza like me and you’ll be full, satisfied, and a happier, better person. I don’t smoke, but I feel like I need a cigarette in bed after that congenial experience. (I may have had too much fun writing this review, but it is really good!)

I had the lemon tonkotsu ramen, which is, I believe, the store's signature dish. The tonkotsu broth was rich, but the ajitama and chashu toppings were rather average. As for the selection of noodle, I went for katamen (what I'd usually get for tonkotsu ramen), but after actually trying the lemon ramen, I believe softer noodles would better suit it. Overall, I was not entirely convinced by the lemon tonkotsu ramen. It came across to me as being somewhat gimmicky. Still, given that the broth that forms the base of the ramen is decent, the store's more 'conventional' ramen dishes, I imagine, would not be bad. Lastly, I appreciated the store's cleanliness and cozy atmosphere.

I came to this store for lunch, the first thing that really impressed me was the staff, very friendly and energetic. The chef looked very hardworking and nice, the vibe was really good! I tried the lemon ramen, and it was an excellent option. The soup was light and refreshing, the ramen perfectly cooked. There were two slices of pork, which was delicious and not fatty at all. It was awesome to explore new flavours ! It’s perfect by itself, but you can also add extra toppings. The customers were all Japanese, and many were having the noodles with the separate soup (I’m not sure what it is called, but it looked delicious too). Thank you!

Lemon tonkotsu ( pork broth) ramen topped with a handful of coriander/cilantro is sublime. If you like pho and ramen, this is on another level. edit: the coriander topped version is not always available. if you're not too into coriander, then the regular lemon ramen is brilliant too. Or they have a pork soba which is quite refreshing and not as heavy as a regular tonkotsu ramen. the lemon tonkotsu coriander is by far my favorite ramen ever. they used to play classic japanese punk by the blue hearts,... i miss that.

Small this shop may be, but it has one of the best ramen and tsukemen in our whole trip. Would recommend getting the lemon ramen (it has a slight hint of lemon the moment you swallow the broth) and the tsukemen (very rich and tasty broth that pairs wonderfully with the noodles) Ordering from the machine is quite easy. The only issue is that we came during the evening (~7.30pm) and had to wait outside for others to finish before going in. The restaurant isn’t too big and is quite busy at night

Strongly recommend having one's ramen here at Menya Always! The shop might not look very noticeable to tourists but our family was warmly greeted when entering and served well, with assistance provided when we had difficulty ordering on the vending machine which had Japanese only. We were served fast and we all enjoyed our ramen that we finished it cleanly. A definite to-go place in Nagasaki!
