The female owner was friendly (+ knows English which made it easy to order), but also a bit abrupt/ businesslike when serving which may rub some people off the wrong way and come off as unfriendly. She was excited to chat and share (and showed us the sushi cup so we could work out what we were eating), the husband (making the sushi) was behind the counter, also friendly but didn’t seem to know as much English. Food wise, while I found the sushi good - I reckon the two mackerel dishes (in the pictures) were better/ more unique and would recommend those over the sushi. The grilled one has bones, so be careful while eating (remove the fish spine/ bone first and you’ll get rid of most of them), some parts of the fish won’t have bones after that. Use chopsticks to rip off the skin to eat with the mackerel (adds more taste/ texture but is already good even without that)

This might have been one of the best sushi we ever had! The lovely old couple that owns the restaurant speak English and work very hard. We made a reservation ahead of time and they were already waiting for us. Definitely try the grilled mackerel! They prepare it right in front of you with a flame gun. It was pleasantly sour, well marinated but still fresh. But the best part was definitely the sushi. We each ordered the same set and they made it into this giant plate. It was amazing, all fresh and beautifully served. Event thought the interior of the restaurant is a bit worn, don’t let that fool you. The food and service is excellent. We loved everything we tried here. And if you don’t drink as much beer as we did, it’s not even that expensive.

Managed to get seats at the end of the counter. The restaurant is owned and run by the old couple. They were pleasant and friendly. The lady explained to us about the cover charge of ¥300 per pax, this includes a starter and hot tea. We ordered the sashimi set for 2 to share. Cost: ¥2200 which we thought was good value as the portion/ variety were good. The sashimi was fresh. Also order the fish & shrimp tempura. It was served without sauce and was told to eat it as it is. The batter was light and not oily, also has a hint of salt on it. The tempura was fresh and tasty. Worth a visit!! Note: there’s paid parking available diagonally across.

I would highly advise against visiting this place. The restaurant is run by a couple that can barely accommodate orders for two parties of 3-4 people at a time, causing a rather long wait. It is more of a bar than a place you go to expect a good, hearty meal. The wife is rude and almost forces you to order in a certain fashion based off what is easiest/most efficient to make given the lack of personnel. Each person is made to order a drink. The quaint, idyllic atmosphere expected of a traditional Japanese restaurant is completely lost in the frantic and micromanaging ways of the wife who serves as the house manager, waitress, and cook at the same time. If you have a high threshold for patience and low standards for good quality sushi, then by all means shoot your shot. Otherwise, just go...
