Visited Yang Shu Ten twice this trip (Jan 2025), once for lunch and once for dinner, together with two small kids. The service was quite fast, which is important for the short lunch break between morning and afternoon ski classes. Staff were welcoming and attentive, with a wide range of menu options for dinner. At lunch, there are great lunch sets to choose from, reasonably priced and high quality at approx JPY 5000.
All the sushi and especially the uni was super fresh, and great value for money- meanwhile we noticed some other Japanese restaurants in Hokkaido had to add a surcharge to their uni dishes this month I guess due to supply shortage. Unfortunately I was too eager to eat and forgot to take photos!
Kid friendly (our kids liked the tempura udon) and takes reservations. This was our favorite restaurant in Niseko Village.
By the way this year there is a pop up coffee shop called Porch Coffee just at the entrance of Yangshuten this year. Run by a very nice Japanese gentleman. Be sure to stop by for your morning cuppa before hitting the slopes !
Looking forward to visiting...
Read moreOrdered Otoro sashimi $12 for a tiny piece that didn’t look fresh at all and the $140 snow crab and that was so disappointing. Crab was served cold and actual pieces of ice still on it like you could tell it was frozen and they spent 37 minutes (that’s how long it took to get my order) defrosting that sad looking crab.
They do give you the whole thing but there was no head juice that you crave and there was hardly any meat in the legs. I actually got hungrier trying to extract whatever sorry cold piece of crab meat I could get and it wasn’t much. I got slightly full from the rice and free green tea they give you.
The ambience was not bad but there are so many others restaurants that give you the same, if not better, vibe. I hardly ever get disappointed with Japanese food but damn this takes the crab cake for sure.
Definitely a tourist trap and they don’t hold back trying to rip you off. The staff was...
Read moreCame with family of 6 adults and 3 kids. The seniors and kiddos had been begging to come back for more everyday! All because of the great food (sashimi platter with lobster, abalone, assortment of fish, tempura udon, wagyu beef, sushi, katsudon, sake, beer, Hokkaido ice-cream with melon......etc), warm hospitality (manager speaks english, ever helpful Ben who speaks fluent cantonese and english) and great ambience with clear view of ski slope, ski lift and Mt Yotei. Price is reasonable considering the logistic of the restaurant to maintain its 5 star food quality and service. The amazing sushi chef is above 70yo so be patient and wait for his surprises for you! The restaurant is 5 min walk from Hilton Niseko. 5 min by internal shuttle from Green Leaf Resort and 10 - 15 min bus ride from Hirafu and Annapuri villages. Booking is advisable to avoid dissappointment. I am not...
