This place was not really what was expected. The first red flag was when we asked for a second bottle of water while we were ordering, and we were informed that we weren't allowed any more tap water.

The second red flag was after we ordered our food and we were told we had to order at least one drink.

I've never heard of these rules, and thought it was fairly disrespectful since we were paying a fair amount for the food.

Once we received the food, we had another disappointment. The entire pasta was undercooked or something, it tasted so bad that no one at our table could stomach it. The pizza was ok, but drowned in oil and made extremely simply from cheap ingredients for something that costs that much.

I enjoyed the food and service. Knowing that pizza could be a tad bit slow I ordered bruschetta as appetizer. It was loaded with fresh cherry tomatoes and very tasty. Being seated at the counter wasn't my first choice but actually OK as they try to accommodate larger groups at the tables. It was easy to get a seat even on a peak season Saturday night. Service was friendly - perhaps me speaking Japanese helped. They take credit card via Square. The mixed reviews likely stem from different expectations. This ain't Pizza Hut - it's a locally run restaurant. For pizza especially, expectations are so different (go chase me with a Chicago depends dish "pie"), that's its best to look...

Pros: Excellent service, friendly waiter.

Cons: Food was absolutely disgusting. The mushroom and chilli pepper had no sauce and was swimming in oil and water. It also had one pepper only.

The mushroom pizza was poorly constructed and the topping all fell off. Good crust though.

Took 15 minutes to pay because an employee was confused with table orders plus there was a language barrier.

Honestly don't know where these 5 star reviews come from. It's possible we had a one off bad pizza/pasta combo but i can't believe that low quality food is being served at a moderate price.

Also the 'Garlic toast' tasted like it was made...
