Yanbaru Meat — Restaurant in Onna

I really wanted to like this place, but we had a bad experience. We were a big group (8) and they could fit us which was great. The food took 1.5 hours to come out and we got it one at a time. So the first steak came out at 7pm and the last steak came out at 8:30pm. There were 2 groups that received all of their food before we even got our second item. We ordered 5 steaks and 3 omelet rice. The fried rice took 1 hour to make. We ordered a bowl of rice and it came with the first steak, but it was for the third steak, so it had been sitting cold for 1 hour before the person ate it. The food itself was decent, I recommend the sirloin or filet steak over the rib cut. The rib cut is tough and chewy. For the price we paid and the reviews I read before coming here, I expected a better experience (~6500 yen/person). Also the music was club “unce unce” music so if there was a lag in conversation, we sat in silence just listening to this and watching one person eat their meal at a time. During our recent trip to Okinawa from NYC, we visited a local Wagyu steak house that’s infront of Moon beach hotel that truly exceeded all expectations.

The quality of the Wagyu was exceptional, rich, buttery, and perfectly cooked to a melting in your mouth finish. It was so good that after finishing our first steak, we immediately ordered a second one. It’s rare to find beef this tender and flavorful, and it was clear the kitchen takes pride in both sourcing and preparation.

In addition to the steak, we tried their omurice, and it was equally impressive. The egg was fluffy, the rice inside was flavorful, and the sauce brought everything together in a comforting, well-balanced dish.

Service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere had a relaxed, welcoming feel that made us feel right at home.

If you’re visiting Okinawa and appreciate high-quality beef, this spot is a must. The food speaks for itself and if you’re like us, you might find yourself ordering seconds.

This place is an exceptional gem and is so underrated. The service was top-notch, food beyond flavourful, and the rest I'll just take with me the fond memories. By far the best food I've had on the island all week and I've had plenty of delicious cuisines.

This place is just special. The chefs and the staff makes it a personal experience, not just another customer, but makes you feel like THE customer!

Had the fish set, garlic fried rice, and shrimp appetizer!! All were excellent and paired well. Yes, the reviews on the fried rice are all true! Stop by this place when on the island you will NOT be disappointed!
