Daidokoro was our FAVORITE dining experience throughout our food journey in Osaka in this past week.
It’s a small and intimate restaurant featuring 6 seats at the bar & 1-2 tables for groups up to 4 people.
We were able to score a last minute reservation for a prefixed menu ( it you can do a la carte for walk ins) and most likely thanks to Golden Week where majority of locals were out of town.
Every single dishes was divine!! We’re so lucky to have eaten here before Chef wins a Michelin star bc we wouldn’t be surprised if he wins it in the very near future. Every dish was sought out thoughtfully with each & every ingredient placed on the plate. And whilst the presentation was simple (we like simplicity), the flavors were amazing.
The squid, fried fish w Parmesan cheese & monk fish liver was the BEST we’ve never had — and we cannot imagine a better tasting version of each. Chef also made a lot of personal twist that made each bite you take wondering “why haven’t anyone thought of this before?” We just love how creative he is in bringing to life the best flavor forward in all the ingredients used.
As for seating, we sat in front of the Chef and were able to get the perfect view of him in action. I believe it’s a husband and wife ran restaurant but when we dined there, Chef was a one man’s team. Even though he was doing a handful of tasks at once, there were never a mismatched in his service level. He was able to be very attentive and even had time to converse with us.
We also had the best lemon sour (super fragrant and sour), and many hot sakes that paired perfectly with the food.
10/10 recommended for anyone who have time in Osaka. Make reservations to be...
