I stayed here a while ago ending my Japan trip here and found my stay okay.
The hostel has all the amenities you would want and need and they are open and helpful upon having questions or needs.
The bathrooms come with bath soap and shampoo; A towel can be rented for 100yen; Bathrooms itself are really clean and kept neatly; Washing machines and dryers available and they use 100yen coins; Little kitchen available for people what want to cook; Big and spacious common area next to reception to do work or just relax; Location is very convenient and within a walking distance from the station; Bed comes with a socket, lamp, secure drawer and space to put things.
Bathrooms on the 3rd floor, so you'll have to go down for your showers; They use fitted sheets as duvet covers which do not stay on very well; My bed board/wall was damp and had black mold on it, the platform underneath my matrass and boards was very moist as well; They dont clean the slippers between uses, they put them back into the locker instantly; The end of the 5th floor dorm smelled enormously like smoke (cigarettes);
The location was great for what I wanted it to be. The hostel has plenty to offer and enough space for you to do your thing. It's relatively social and there are two 7/11's nearby for you to get your late night snack if needed.
Overall a good stay, but they have some hygiene to improve in...
Read moreWe booked a private “Japanese style room” here for 4 nights and left after the first, the room smelt strongly of black mould. After a lengthy back and forth with the manager we received a refund for half of the 4 day stay, which was much appreciated but we thought was completely warranted.
There is nothing overtly wrong with this hostel but our private room was seriously underwhelming and had a sickening smell, paper thin walls and no private bathroom. We cannot speak to the quality of the dorm rooms (they looked ok from the outside) and the common areas including showers and toilets are definitely good.
Our private room had a very strong black mould smell and the staff argued it was the tatami bed mats. From reading some of the other reviews it seems we’re not the only ones who have had this experience..
If the price had been 20,000 yen for 4 nights this stay might be acceptable (apart from the strong black mould smell) but for 32,000 yen over 4 nights you may as well pay the extra 6,000 or so yen and stay at a 3-4 star hotel in the middle of town. It’s just absurd to us that we moved to an 11-Apartment elsewhere in Osaka and are only paying fractionally more per night but we have a clean room with private shower toilet and even washing machine. Even in a private room hostels are supposed to be the...

The mixed dormitory on the 5th floor was OK. Cleanliness wasn’t the worst, but it could’ve easily been better. I recommend bringing wet wipes. When I wiped the countertop in my bunk, it came up black from possibly not being cleaned in a while. But maybe some people don’t care much about that. But for the price I paid, that’s why I care. The sheets didn’t smell, and looked clean enough, but I didn’t examine them thoroughly. The room itself was a bit smelly, and carpet dirty. There was not enough air circulation in the room. The showers and toilets were kept pretty clean, at least from the time I used them.
The cubby I was assigned to was supposed to have slippers, so it was a little inconvenient to walk around in my sneakers, even when after taking a shower. I saw a few people doing that too. When I looked at the other cubbies I realized there weren’t enough slippers for everyone.
The lounge area was nice, and there is a kitchen that you are free to use. There are also coin laundry machines and bath towels are available to rent for 100 yen each.
Location wasn’t very convenient, but not the worst either. Most of Umeda was within an 8-15 minute walking distance. The closest train station was around a 7...
