I have been very regular customer in this restaurant for many years . The food was always spectacular and the Service fantastic, especially with the older Indian gentleman who seemed to have a management role and knew his customers intimately. If Google had 10 stars, I would give this 10+ stars. I’ve been overseas for a few weeks and came back tonight and there has been a complete staff change apart from one person. I understand that all the chefs have been sent back to India and are not returning. The The change in the quality of food is spectacular and drop in quality of the food is diabolical.
It’s worse than McDonald’s.
My Curry was dry with little sauce on it and was tasteless, the chicken tikka was completely dry and it was replaced by the chef and the replacement was just the same. The Basmati rice portion was tiny. The only thing that remain of good quality was the onion pakora. I spoke to the chef who has been there for a long time and he told me that the new people now prepare the food and he doesn’t. That is a significant management disaster. Over the last 10+ years I I have recommended this restaurant to many people as the most outstanding Indian restaurant anywhere in Kansai if not Japan. What a sad turnaround to turn such a wonderful place to go for a great food into something I will not return to. I hope the...

Chatpata Uehommachi is an absolute gem. I’ve tried a bunch of Indian spots around Osaka, and this one is easily the best. Everything tasted super fresh and full of real Indian flavor.
The chaat (you can see it in the photo I uploaded) was next-level — crispy, tangy, sweet, spicy — just a perfect mix of textures and flavors. But the biryani? Unreal. So aromatic, fluffy rice, perfectly spiced. And the butter chicken… insanely good. Creamy, rich, and comforting. You can tell they put real love into their food.
The restaurant is a bit hidden, but totally worth it — it’s on B1. Once you go down the escalator, look for a small set of stairs and a blue wall. It’s in the right corner. A little tucked away, but trust me, that just makes it feel more like a hidden gem.
Staff were super friendly, service was great, and the whole place just felt warm and welcoming. If you’re in Osaka and craving Indian food (or just great food in general), this is the spot. No joke — best in the city.

Read moreIf you’re looking for authentic South Indian flavors in Osaka, Chatpata Uehommachi HiHi Town is a gem. The dosa is perfectly crisp, the sambar is tangy and full of spice, and the coconut and tomato chutneys taste just like back home in South India. You can even ask for your preferred spice level, which makes the experience friendly for both locals and spice lovers.
The lunch sets are generous and well thought out, with all the right accompaniments — rice, sambar, papad, and chutneys. While the heat is slightly toned down compared to what you’d get in India, the flavors are rich, balanced, and very authentic.
Friendly staff, clean atmosphere, and food that truly brings the South Indian taste to Osaka — highly...
