Have just spent two days at Cocode Plus Osaka . Very busy time in Osaka on the 3 rd and 4 th of May being golden week . We came here after two hectic days at Shinsaibashi , Dotonbori area which was extremely busy with tourists . We arrived at the hotel t 1 o'clock and couldn't check in till three o'clock . We asked the owner if he knew of a good coffee shop whilst waiting and he told us to go to the Sheraton Hotel about 5 mins walk away . On the second floor is Belle Cafe which was excellent and very popular with the locals also not too expensive which was surprising . Came back and checked in at 3 oclock . We were on the 6 th floor in a block of two apartments on each floor of maybe 8 floors in total . The rooms are small , very clean , tiny bathrooms . The balcony is useless as too small and no outdoor furniture to sit on . Not much atmosphere here but close to Uenmachi Station and Shopping centre all attached to The Sheraton Hotel . Lots of love hotels next door and opposite but a very quiet area The little kitchen area is too small for anything but boiling a kettle , there is absolutely no bench space . There are so many food choices around though . Little ramen noodle restaurants are the best . We taxied to Osaka Castle then walked back which was a comfortable walk and a great day out . Also the Osaka museum was only about 300 metres from the castle . Lovely clean little property to stay . If you do , take a screen shot of the name and address of this hotel as its hard to find and if you get a taxi you can show the driver . Not many people speak English here so it saves a...
Read moreAs per other reviews, it is a converted apartment rather than a purpose built hotel but if you want a fairly close proximity to shinsaibashi but not all the lights and noises around you, this works out well for a stay for a night or two. The room itself is spacious enough compared to actual hotels, cleanliness is probably acceptable, deco is ok. I'd suggest to look at the photos uploaded by other reviewers, not just the hotel's own ones. Also there is a combini just around the block for a quick meal or anything else. There are coin operated washing machines and dryers, two each which should be more than sufficient for the number of rooms in the hotel. I booked a day before to stay close to shinsaibashi as something came up unexpected and needed a room. In that respect, it exceeded my expectations and if a similar situation arises, I'd stay here again. I can recommend this hotel for a budget conscious traveler who wants to be close to...
Read moreI liked this “hotel” quite a bit. Reasonably priced and fairly convenient to 3 lines (Kintetsu and 2 subway lines). Big rooms for the price; mainly because it is a converted apartment building. The only negative is that - while there is a front desk - there is rarely anyone there. You pick up the phone and they come. Pretty quickly, the longest I waited was maybe two minutes.
On the other hand, if you have a room full of women screaming and slamming into furniture next door to you at 1:30, help is not at hand. A couple “fist bumps”against the wall did the trick. Pro tip: tap the wall ps to find a hollow area. Some of them are solid concrete and (a) hurt like hell as well s (b) make no noise whatsoever.
One BIG plus about this hotel is that they change the towels and take out the trash daily. Many of the chain hotels in Japan no longer have...
