Deepening Submarine Bar SHINKA — Restaurant in Osaka

Stunning hidden submarine theme locals bar. No menu, no fancy stuff, but great for a quick classic beverage! The owner is incredibly kind, and speaks little English, but just enough to make sure you are taken care of and feel welcome.

He apologized for us having to wait outside, but it was no issue for us!

Expect to see locals here, usually smoking. It can be a little hard to breathe for non-smokers if the door is shut… but that’s Japan! Haha.

We ordered Negronis but saw many people drinking gin & tonics!

Very reasonably priced, secret bar in a quiet corner of Osaka. Decor is amazing, it's really the bar's drawcard. Was introduced to this location by an Osaka native and was glad for it. Far from the hordes of empty, boring and overpriced bars in Namba, this is a real unique experience. They don't have the same range of cocktails as they used to apparently (on the night we were there the bartender couldn't manage an old fashioned) but it's a great place to down yebisu barefoot while fiddling with all the knobs. NB: Be sure to investigate the bathroom, it's one of the most impressively designed parts...

As everyone else said, it’s a secret bar, no advertising, no signs, only a small light on top of the sliding door that’s at the end of a narrow alley way. Its a small intimate space, the attention to detail will keep your eyes busy all night, the toilet is mesmerising. There was no music but the hum of an engine maybe? At first I was disappointed with the lack of music, but after a while, you begin to appreciate and immerse yourself in the silence.
