As a frequent Don Quijote customer who has purchased many products over time, my recent visit left me with an exceptionally unpleasant experience.
After purchasing items at the pharmacy section, I went to the counter for tax-free processing. Upon requesting the tax-free service in Japanese, the attitude of a female employee wearing a mask changed drastically. She gave me an unfriendly look and even poked me with her finger to indicate that I should follow her.
While walking to the counter, the employee repeatedly handled my passport, personally flipping through it multiple times. Normally, one verification at the counter would be sufficient, but she appeared to be reviewing my personal information along the way, giving a strong impression of unnecessary and invasive monitoring. This behavior felt extremely uncomfortable and was, in essence, an invasion of my privacy.
Upon arrival at the counter, the employee continued to direct me solely with hand gestures, without uttering a single word. After payment, she neglected to remove the anti-theft tag, and when I requested assistance, she removed it with an expression that suggested annoyance. Even after I expressed my gratitude, she ignored me completely, maintaining an unfriendly stare without any response.
In contrast, the other staff members at this location were professional and friendly. However, the discriminatory and unprofessional attitude of this particular employee was offensive and humiliating as a customer.
