A great thing about this hotel is the location. It is within a very reasonable walking distance of Osaka Castle, and there is an elevator going down to a subway station (serving two different subway lines) literally about 20 feet from the hotel door. There are also excellent supermarkets with deli-style, ready-to-eat Japanese foods (sashimi, tataki, octopus legs, clams, etc.) about 15 minutes walk away. Also there are numerous convenience stores nearby, and a McDonald's restaurant just down the street... for the faint of heart.||||Other good points are the polite staff, the reasonably well laid-out bathroom, the coin-operated clothes washers and dryers being available, and the powerful air conditioning which stays on when you are not there. The free breakfast was more or less all Japanese style food, but seemed good to me and in ample supply at the buffet table. Oh, and a kid can stay (and eat) with an adult for no additional charge.||||A negative is the Toyoko Inn policy of kicking out guests from 10 AM until 4 PM every day, while the rooms are cleaned. I was there with my 6 year old daughter in blazing hot August, and it sure would have been nice to swing by and cool off for an hour or so around 2 PM some days. Or maybe to hole up in there during a typhoon. Another negative is, the coin laundry is located in the breakfast room, and I believe the clothes dryers vent directly into the room air. Inevitably someone would get up to do laundry at 6 AM and have the breakfast room like a hot humid sauna by eating time. I shower in the morning, and really hated to feel that sweat pouring out of my body again so soon afterwards. And maybe the bed was a little on the hard side for me. One final gripe is that while a kid can stay with an adult for free, only one set of towels is provided unless...
Read moreLocation is convenient as far as the subway is concerned. It's right in front of the hotel.||No frills hotel, very small room as expected in Japan. We are happy about the cleanliness. Basic amenities - shampoo conditioner liquid body wash. Toothbrushes and if you need more supplies you can always ask the front desk. ||Breakfast is served but basically Japanese. I can't believe how much carbohydrates the Japanese consume. Sushi, white rice and Japanese fried rice. Various pickled vegetables. The only continental breakfast served is bread jam and sausages. Coffee served. Water dispenser. Vending machine. Good enough but you get tired of the food more so when the next leg of our trip was in Tokyo using the same chain. There was a convenient store right beside the hotel. Did not even see a restaurant close by.||||Front desk staff hardly any English. Wifi signal was intermittent. I should learn more on their train system. ||I like Osaka because food is cheap. You can literally walk around the areas of Dotonburi and Shinsaibashi buying sticks of teppanyaki, Japanese pancakes and their squid balls. Place is very lively. One thing about Japan is you feel safe anywhere you go. ||||I will stay in a Toyoko Inn again but will pick a...
Read moreChristmas holiday has arrived ... our hotel choice in osaka is Tokyo Inn. From the airport we access to the hotel pretty far even though we traveled by train. Our hotel's location is quite strategic, right in front of the hotel there is a train line that connects us to the places we will visit. Besides the proximity to train lines there are several places to eat our recommendations one of which is a curry restaurant. The restaurant is close to Lawson, home-based small restaurant but currynya taste so delicious. For the size of the room is not very big considering we brought four suitcases, to the bed is not very big, but he has a big bathtub to soak. For breakfast in the morning is very standard but tasty. I highly recommend this hotel besides the price is affordable with...
