Hotei-zushi Higashi — Restaurant in Osaka

update Thank goodness this restaurant survived covid and the food, service and atmosphere is as authentic and delicious as ever!

Avoid the anago for now; somehow has become dry and this was also confirmed by other patrons. This place is the first sushi restaurant my colleagues brought me to, so it is my first love and I'm biased toward this place. Since then, I've been back to Osaka and went to this restaurant three times in the past two months. I suspect that I'll definitely pop by this place whenever I'm in Osaka. The anago and ikura sushi is just divine. The anago is grilled and served hot. The salmon roe is fresh and isn't fishy.

I just love the environment - it's noisy, people can get a little rowdy, sometimes there're families with kids, it also can get rather smokey when the salarymen are throwing back a few beers and having a cigarette, but there's something special about that atmosphere.

Update Just made my annual pilgrimage to eat at this restaurant, and it's exactly how I left it.

２年前 雰囲気の落ち着かないお店。 客層がほぼタバコ吸いながら食事するお店。 会計が雑で支払い金額に不安、謎が生じる寿司屋。支払い時に細かく請求金額の確認をしてるお客さんを数人目にしました。

2020年夏 家族客が来るので禁煙に。 大音量J-POP音楽が流れているので残念ながら寿司屋と言うよりもファミリーレストラン。 音楽１つで客層を含む雰囲気が大きく変わりますね。

2021年1月上旬 店に一歩入ったとたん「熱いっ！」 定員は年中同じ薄手半袖の作業服 接客の大きなポイントの室温 定員の季節各々の作業服を考え直すべき 皆、直ぐに店を出てしまいました
