Kani Doraku Juso — Restaurant in Osaka

The environment was great and the room was spaciousand nicely decorated. Some of the food was really good, such as the nabe (鍋), but some other courses were not as high quality as expected, such as the sashimi and the grilled crab meat. The grilled crab was too dry.

Service quality depends on the person serving the table, but service is in general bad. I was very surprised that some of the servers didn't use Keigo (敬語は使わなかった). As a foreigner who knows some Japanese, I immediate picked up the lack of respect to us. We weren't even thanked when we paid.

Either the company is bad to the employees or the servers are just untrained. For the price we paid (around 20,000 yen for lunch), there are many way better options and it is very unlikely that we will return because of the...

I'm impressed by the food presentation and delicate taste. Crab is usually hard to eat because of the shell but at this restaurant shells are horizontally cut, allowing you to easily scoop the fresh meat out. They have an English menu and we dined in a private room in a traditional setting on the mats and all. There was a waitress that could speak Mandarin so that was helpful- she explained the various dishes and dinner format. A phone is available in the room to call the waitress. The restaurant's in Dotombori were fully booked for days during the golden week/May day break so this restaurant in Juso was the we found space and was near our hotel in shin osaka.

Food is top quality and fresh. The service and presentation excellent. Of course, if you don't like crab then you don't have other choices.
