We visited Khazana restaurant, twice, during our recent trip to Japan and Osaka. We are fond of Gujarati people, culture and importantly Gujarati vegetarian food. We got authentic and almost like home-made Gujarati food at Khazana. This restaurant is relatively small but exceptionally clean (isn’t everything, in Japan!) and easy, 2-minute walk from the NishiNakajima subway station. We were treated very warmly and got even Gujarati rotli and a variety of Gujarati delicacies like khichdi, kadi, kathol, various shaakh, kulfi, special salad, dahi balla, vegetable soup and even achar like gul-keri. He started us off with khatta dhoklas as well. We did see non- vegetarian items like chicken, lamb, fish etc., but we have no comments on those. Mr. Hemen Dave is a great host, seasoned chef and very personable. We were left with a memorable experience the first time that we went in there again a couple days later and exprienced other vegetarian items. We recommend this place highly to all people of Indian origin but also to Japanese and other peoples who want to taste the cuisine from the state the Indian Prime Minister Narendra...
Read moreToday was my second visit to Khazana in my three days trip to Osaka. I had the Gujarati thali for lunch once and then again for dinner—I just had to go back—I loved the food so much. The food made me nostalgic for home in India. I had lassi, hot Gujarati rotli (which is amazing in a country where huge naan is the only Indian bread you seem to be able to get), two types of Gujarati vegetable curries (again a rarity here in this country where it’s all Punjabi curries usually), dahi wada, rice and daal for lunch (omg, sooo good!). For dinner, I got soup, samosa chaat, pulses salad, hot puffed up masala pooris (absolutely delicious), Gujarati sabji and daal, khichdi and kadi with bhajia in it, and Mohanthaal. Best restaurant I have visited in Japan till now. The owner couple is wonderful, friendly and helpful. They even gave me poori instead of paratha for dinner because they knew (because I had gone there once for lunch already) I would appreciate that more. Highly recommended for anyone in Osaka who wants authentic Indian and especially Gujarati food! Will definitely make it a point to go here every time I...
