Micasadeco & Cafe — Restaurant in Osaka

Terrible service!!! I have lived in Japan for almost 3 years now and have never experienced service as slow, inattentive and rude as in this cafe. Firstly, we were waiting outside the cafe in the rain for 40 minutes with no indication of the time it would take for us to be seated and we were not given menus to be able to choose our food quickly by the time we sat down. The staff didn’t say anything to us other than asking how many were in our group then disappearing back into the cafe. Fine, I can appreciate if the cafe is busy and they can’t give a time estimate. But it continues… Finally, we got to sit down and ordered. We only got our coffees after about 40 MINUTES. Then, OVER ONE HOUR LATER from ordering we got our food!! In this hour, we got absolutely NO contact with the staff - they never checked on us, refilled our waters, let us know how much longer it’d be, nothing! Everyone else around us who arrived later than us got their food. We’d ordered the soufflé pancakes which usually take longer than regular pancakes/other food (though the staff didn’t warn us of this, we just knew from past experience at other cafes). But even tables who’d come in and ordered after us received their soufflé pancakes before us. This would’ve all been understandable if the staff had communicated that the kitchen was busy/understaffed/there was a mixup with our order etc and apologised, but the problem was they had absolutely no communication with us at all. When our food finally came I asked the staff if we could get some kind of discount, voucher, ANYTHING to make up for such a long wait and terrible service. The staff said a resolute NO. The soufflé/fluffy pancakes themselves only came in 2 varieties - plain or the seasonal option. Not sure why the advertising and photos etc of the restaurant are so fluffy pancake-focused when they’ve only got those 2 options. We got the seasonal lemon and orange ones - they were very sweet but pretty nice. Coffees were very small and expensive. Coffee + seasonal pancakes = ¥2150, standard prices though coffee was expensive for what you got.

The absolute LEAST they could’ve done was offer free coffee refills or a 10% discount or a small voucher for next time… just some token gesture of goodwill. But even after asking multiple times, the rude and disinterested staff still said no.

Overall, the abysmal service did not make up for the food/drink received and I am absolutely never going here again. Would definitely recommend AGAINST going here for...

We tried these pancakes in Tokyo and Kyoto and we fell in love!! The pancakes are a 10 and can only recommend visiting this chain if you are a fluffy pancakes lover or if you are trying them for the first time. However, expect to queue and plan your day accordingly. Very important!! They open at 9am but start serving fluffy pancakes only from 11am. We didn’t know and went there at 10:15 but we were happy to wait. The pancakes met our expectations however, the atmosphere was just unpleasant, a mix of techno and Halloween music playing in the background, noisy, completely out of context, not really the Halloween thing since it was almost Halloween, but the mix of genres and the volume made the whole experience very disappointing for us. Moreover, the place gets quite busy throughout the morning and when we went there there was only 1 girl attending all the customers. Nothing negative to say about her, but the fact that she was too busy made the service lack in quality and she obviously didn’t have the time to understand properly our request. In the other branches it is possible to order more cream on the side but here it isn’t, or at least it isn’t showed in the menu. So we asked the girl for more “ricotta cheese” which we believed was the cream served with the pancakes. She tried to say something which we didn’t understand and eventually she serves me with actual ricotta. We then understood that ricotta goes inside the pancakes (which is probably what she was trying to say) but I was simply asking for more cream. Nice & cozy cafe type restaurant. We visited specifically for the fluffy Japanese pancakes but ordered other items on the menu while we were there. Be mindful that this cafe only seats about 25 people so on a busy day you may have to wait in a long line just to get in. Also, most people go there to order the fluffy pancakes too & they take about 20min to get to your table so it's not exactly a constant quick turn around of customers. Another note is that I wouldn't care to go there with a big party or even a party over 4 people. It's just not the kind of space that can accommodate big groups. It's pretty cramped already. That being said, we had a great experience here overall even after a 45min wait to get inside. I ordered a hot green tea latte which was good & came to our table with the cutest design on it. Food wise we ordered a pork wrap which tasted ok. We also ordered a spinach mushroom& truffle omelet which was tasty. Both came with a light salad & pan fried potatoes. We ate those for lunch & then waited for our fluffy pancakes so we could eat it as "dessert". The fluffy pancakes were AMAZING!! THEE BEST pancakes I've ever had. They melted in your mouth as if you were eating a cloud. So delicious!! We normally choose not to wait in lines that long just for food but we were on vacation & it was our last day.
