A very solid hotel experience! The hotel is very thoughtful, convenient, and clean. ||Location: Just three minutes away from the Osaka Metro (and a few more minutes from other public transit lines), the hotel's very conveniently located for just about anything you might want to visit if not in walking distance already. Pretty much right next to a Lawson and one street over from a 7-11 and Family Mart for any of your other needs. Also near a Don Quijote and pharmacy if you needed any other essentials.||Room: We booked a standard twin room for two people (a couple). It's on the smaller side from an American perspective, especially the bathroom, but perfectly serviceable for two people. The mattresses are on the hard side, but we enjoy that. Wouldn't be able to share a bed comfortably, though. Our room did have a pull out trundle and additional bedding. We used the space between our beds for our large suitcase, using the area at the foot of the bed for our smaller suitcase and miscellaneous things. If you had more than three suitcases it'd be very tight. Water temperature and pressure were great. The deep tub is nice for a bath or soak after a long day on your feet.||Amenities: We were provided shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand/face soap (a little drying), two hand towels, two body towels, toothbrushes, washcloths, and disposable slippers. Free water bottles in the fridge. Toothbrushes, washcloths, slippers replenished with each room cleaning. On the first floor, you can get hair ties, face masks, hair brushes, and cotton swabs. Even if you don't get your room cleaned, they'll leave you fresh towels and water bottles at the door.||Breakfast: We got breakfast with our room|plan, which is served buffet-style from 7AM to 10AM (last entry 9:30AM). They have bread, salad, western-style food, Japanese breakfast foods, Korean-style side dishes, Chinese-style side dishes, sometimes ramen and sushi even. It's a decent spread that's a good way to start the day energized, like you'd want to be while traveling. The staff are very nice. If you have diet considerations, I believe they'll provide you something if you arrange it beforehand.||Service and other things:|-The front desk staff are friendly!|-One thing I appreciate is that they'll arrange luggage delivery to your next hotel (or overseas?) for you, but talk to them beforehand so you know what the timing is. |-They also have an ice cream and drink bar (alcoholic and fountain beverages) free to guests for most of the day. Didn't think we'd use it as often as we did, but it was nice being able to grab a quick sweet treat on our way back from an outing. |-They have coin laundry on the 5th and 7th floors, no laundry detergent required but it only takes ¥100 coins. Front desk made change for us, though. Costs: ¥400 to wash (30 minutes), ¥100 to dry (per 30 minutes). We needed 60 minutes or ¥200 to get our heavier clothing to dry, like jeans and sweaters, totaling ¥600 per load (about 2 days worth of clothes for two people). Other people might forget their laundry and leave you out of luck if the other floor's laundry is also full—staff can't help you since they can't touch guest's clothes.|-Second and third floors are banquet venues so you might see some other groups there for the day. It can get pretty lively, but we didn't hear much from our 5th floor room at all. Sound proofing was decent.|-Only one stool in the room and no actual tables, so you're kind of forced to eat on the floor or standing over the built in counter. A folding table of sorts might be nice. I wish there was a place to toss food waste so we didn't have to request room cleaning so often.|-They also hold events throughout the week, but we didn't take advantage of...

Read moreFirstly, the rooms are very small unless you upgrade. My room doesn't even have a desk. However, I personally don't mind how the rooms are since it feels quite homey to me. Also, you have access to their main lobby which has numerous seats where you can sit and mingle. Other than the small rooms, you are in for a treat when you stay at this hotel.
From 3pm to around 9pm (I can't remember the exact time), enjoy free ice cream and FREE DRINKS INCLUDING ALCOHOL. I personally took advantage of their cocktail recipe that they left out for you to mix your own drinks. At 8pm, they offer free cup noodles to guests, you can take these to your room or use the hot water machine at their lobby to heat up your noodles, and eat there At night, enjoy some hot drinks using their tea/coffee machine and take advantage of their massage chairs.
The customer service of the staff at Dotonburi Hotel is quite literally out of this world. Everyone is so nice and helpful, especially at check in. I made a last minute request to upgrade my room and they accommodated on the spot, even letting me know I can leave my luggage at their counter and go out for the day while they set the new room up for me. They even sent me a message via Expedia letting me know when my luggage has arrived (through luggage delivery service). I even see some staff during certain days which they host events out in the lobby doing arts and crafts, mingling with guests.
I feel part of the Dotonburi Hotel family during my stay, and I will definitely be booking again when I revisit Osaka...
